Re: Say hi to Isabeau!
Poor thing. Maybe you can get her a chewable house, those that are made with herbs and things like that... A ceramic house sounds good too. The tunnel system looks super fun and awesome but... yeah, I think that you're right and it's too expensive and not so practical
I hope Isabeau injueries heal soon.
I posted this on Aurora's thread by mistake but it was meant for you from the beginning -.-"

Re: Say hi to Isabeau!
I don't know about it getting sticky, because I've never owned an edible house. Maybe other users can help you. I think that Serendipity has one of those edible houses.
I supposed that it would go to waste if she peed on it, but that would happen on all the houses made from soaking materials.
I've just remember that Juliebrei made for a while her own houses for his syrian with toilet paper. Maybe you can take a look. Meet Romeo! Maybe you'll have to do several ones, but I think that they would be perfect safe-chewable

Re: Say hi to Isabeau!
Ceramic and chewproof houses of any sort can be good, unless you have a very strange hamster who decides to attempt burrowing under them or tries picking one up in their mouth to move it!

Re: Say hi to Isabeau!
Burrowing under them is not so strange at all lol! all mine do that with any house including ceramic!
I think that's the only thing you need be careful of with a ceramic house Emma, if it's a bit heavy she could possibly hurt herself burrowing under it.
Probably about the only option if you want a house you don't have to keep replacing, the hay type houses like that round rodipet one would be nice (although the terracotta top is still quite heavy) & wouldn't get sticky but could get peed on.
The other type of edible house like the edible logs made of alfalfa & sawdust (I think) could get sticky & quite unpleasant if peed on.
