Awww Lizzy, it brought a tear to my eye reading that. I'm so glad you have Harvey there to comfort you and make you giggle, he's such a special boy and so in tune with your feelings.

You are so right though we have to treasure each moment we get to spend with them.

Sending you big hugs and give Harvey a kiss from me for helping to make you smile xx

The diva Twinkle...what a very special ham she was indeed. I can't believe a whole year has gone by. What fun we had TL exchanging messages between our two precious hams. So glad Harvey could comfort you yesterday. But they never really leave us do they?

Thank You Hamsterita, AprilPearl, BorisPasha, Cypher & Coco for your lovely comments.
I had been dreading Twinkle's anniversary as she became ill so suddenly and all of my past hamsters were over 2 years. Twinkle was 1 year & 8 months and deteriorated so quickly leaving me feeling helpless and feeling like a bad owner for not noticing. I did blame myself for a while.
Friday was hard but Master Harvey reminded me that I had him and we have taken comfort on each other.

So lovely to hear Harvey comforting you on Twinkles anniversary, it must have been really hard for you but great that Harvey was there to love and comfort you on this very difficult day - and helping you to smile. Harvey is a wonderful caring hamster!

You are very right that we have to treasure every day with our special hamsters as things can happen so suddenly. I too find it very hard remembering sad times and certain anniversaries bring me to tears. Its a shock when they leave us suddenly - I knew how upset I felt when I lost Toffee at 11/12 months old, I too blamed myself! I also still have moment when I'm I tears thinking about Sherbet accident and her PTS. But when I look at Pumpkin I feel so lucky that I have her in my life, who helps me to smile when I'm upset and Is always their to comfort me!

Please don't feel bad TL. You are in no way, shape or form a bad owner. I had a similar experience, except with a guinea pig who died of cancer, and there are so many what ifs: what if I took him to the vet earlier? What if I did this? What if I did that?

You can't beat yourself up over this forever. And I am glad that Harvey has been able to detract from some if that pain.

Master Harvey The Multitasker!

Thank you SKB, Serendipity, AprilPearl & Hamsterita!

My apologies for my late update but, had a few hectic days. A long ramble follows;
Master Harvey the Multitasker has been a Comediham, Comfortham, Superham, Fussyham, Greedyham, Stretcherham, Climbingham, Diggerham & Invisibleham.
He's been very busy keeping me on my toes, On Monday I did a part cage clean and I tidied up his home only for him to dig down under the carefresh and become invisible, every so often this little cute nose would appear and I would say Peek-A-Boo, this went on a while and then nothing, he'd only gone and hid under his bridge. He was so still and I ended up lifting the bridge to check and his little innocent face looked up and my heart melted.
On Tuesday, I noticed his medium sized whimzee (2 + half inches long) was in his sputnik, Harvey had carried his whimzee up his bendy bridge ladder and into his sputnik where he buried it under the cf. I was amazed and told him he was superham lol!
I have been laughing more than usual, he sure knows how to cheer me up.
He's had so many treats, another cone which he carried to his wheel for a spin, a honey and nut treat bar where he clung on with a very long hug and nuts. I offered him a monkeynut but he just stared at me so I cracked the shell and offered him the nuts but no. I had to peel off the red cover before he accepted them. I did laugh.
And we both got the hiccups which was rather amusing!
