Default All about Winston!

Here i will update everyone on Winston, My Syrian hamster. With pictures and explanations of how he's doing.

So, In 2014 i was relaxing outside in the sun and i saw my nextdoor neighbour come out with a Golden Syrian that she was looking after for her friend. I played with the hamster for a bit and i got really happy and excited about him, he was a cutie! So i went back to mine and got my hamster book out, i got really into it and a little message in my brain was like: I WANT A HAMSTER!

After non-stop nagging my boyfriend to get me an early 2 year Anniversary present, we decided to get a hamster, and Winston is the result of that. Winston was from a pet shop called Paws For Thought. I knew when i went in to try get the most tame hammy. Winston was probably the least tame, but he just melted my heart when i saw him.

He didn't really enjoy his Imac fantasy cage, he had no wheel because i couldn't fit one that was big enough in it! But for christmas after a bunch of nagging again (i nag a lot, oops, haha! ) I got him a 4ft glass tank and he is the happiest ham in there My mum and brother and everyone else that meets him think im mad, or are really shocked to why he is in such a big tank. They all say he's such a spoilt hamster and i guess he is compared to the hams with owners who know nothing about them. But realistically everything he has is what a hamster should have, so i don't see him as spoilt.

Here are some old pictures of his enclosure around the time when i first got it:

And here is Winston when i first got him at 6 weeks old:

I will update this thread with more recent pictures as soon as i can, and will continue to update you on winston.

Winston is 1 year next month (June) On the 21st

The Lights are LED Lights, Blue and white. I thought it'd give a moonlight effect for winston at night He has more toys and things in his tank now too He's currently hopping around his cage and grooming himself. Little cutie he is

Just wondering, do lights or (LED) annoy hamsters? I mean sometimes when humans have to much light it sometimes might give headaches. It's very beautiful on the cage! Where did you get the lights?

I guess they can be, but i hide most of the lights behind his substrate now so they're not in his face. I don't keep them on all the time either Honestly cant remember i've had them before i got Winston, but you can get them anywhere online, and in pound shops and things like that.
