Default Meet Kashi my radiant chocolate beauty

I met and fell in love with a little chocolate coloured hamster at our local pet shop just after Christmas. Becausr i had male syrians i felt it would be unfair to get a girl.

I felt sooo sad for her and prayed for her often. She was one of three girls in a tank together. I pointed out to the lady working there thst she was being picked on by the other two. She said it was normal at that age.

A few months later i saw that she was still there. She had her own tank with only food and water as entertainment. Not quite enough bedding to hide in ...

I saw on the shops facebook page that she had been there since February 2015.

Since then i learned from good old hamster central that it is ok to keep different genders in the same room (securely in their cages ofcourse) so today a friend and i went and collected her.

The alaska cage is on its way and for now she is in Aruns old play box with a mesh lid.

She bit and tore at her pet shop box and has been constantly on the go since she got here at around 11.30am. She dug her substrate, foraged for her scattered fppd and climbed up her bigger box looking for ways out.

She sniffs through the mesh when i lean over and is totally unafraid.

She is like a teeny mole!

Aw, I'm so happy you went and got her. Bless, I can't believe she has been there over a year! Why was she with other hamsters in december when she was that age? That's so wrong!

I hope she settles and turns out to be a lovely lady, well done for going to get her

Well done FF. You gave way in the end but for the best reason! Astonishing story. It will be really interesting to follow how she settles down after such an awful start. She sounds a lovely colour and a character!

Congratulations on rescuing Kashi! I have been wondering what you would decide going through the threads today. I think it's meant to be too! Looking forward to pictures of course! You'll have to update your signature

It is incredible coco. I am amazed at how lively she is. She loves the junior wodent wheel that Arun had. He now has a silent runner. She id making a truely massive nest in her nice wooden house and is still whizzing about looking for escape routes!

I thought of you cinnamon bear. Both at six hamsters and both recently adopted older hamsters! I agree it was meant to be.

I lve chocolate hamsters too cypher! She is so busy. It is so good t see her in a big cosy nest. She is a daytime hamster and comes up to her mesh lid and sniffs up at me. She has let me stroke her but wasnt over keen. Oh the softness.

Her barney arrives in a few days! I did order the alaska but cancelled it today. You cant beat a barney.
