A little taste of "Cookie" - her thread

Hello,

I know that I posted a couple of days ago about my new hamster Cookie, which I got on Wednesday last week, but I wanted to start on her own thread today, so I can write more about her, and also put some photos up lol.

As most of you know, I got Cookie from Pets at Home, for free - thanks to my friend who is the manager there, and she even got a free health check thanks to my friend as well.

Even though I have only had her a few days, Cookie has a really lively and fun personality. With thanks to Souffle (again), she told me that Cookie is a black, banded tortoishell - otherwise known as gorgeous lol.

I have already been able to give Cookie a few gentle strokes on her back, and I would have allowed her to come outside, but she hasn't quite got the courage to come onto my hands yet, so I am giving her time on that.

I picked up some stuff that I had for Lily (who died a fortnight ago, so her stuff went into storage), so hopefully going to get Cookie out properly soon.

I know I posted this photo before, but as I haven't managed to get any more photos up on my computer yet, this one will do for starters lol.

Hope you enjoy reading Cookie's new thread, as much as I will enjoy writing about her (and putting up photos of course lol).

Hello,

Cookie is definitely settling into her life with me. She is beginning to accept treats and gentle stroking from me and seems eager to come out of the cage in the evening.

Quite often, she will come out when I am using my desktop computer as it's right by her cage, and will quite happily sit watching whatever I am doing at the time.

She has had some time out of the cage as well, both in a large hamster ball and also on my bed...but she kept climbing back in the ball, so I think she likes that most at the moment lol.

I am beginning to get used to Cookie's little quirks and her likes and dislikes. I gave her a tiny bit of steamed asparagus last night, and she loved it...just sat nibbling it with her eyes squeezed shut lol.

I will try and get some more photos of Cookie posted up tonight, as thankfully for once I have a night off and that'll give me time to take, upload and post some photos up...also got to do some of Winnie as well for the Cat forum lol.

That's great you were able to get Cookie for free and plus get a free vet exam. It must be fun having a hammie with unique coloring, looking forward to more picture and updates...
