I've had some boy ones that were right handfuls!

Oooh, a thread for Pippin would be great!

Well then Pippin has started to use her tubes to eat, sleep, pee and poo in, so the mess is not good, also she was sleeping on wet urine bedding.
Her little house which she had been using was abandoned by her when it was full of stashed food and bedding also soaked through with pee and lots of poo in there too.
So I have sealed off the tubes and cleaned them out tried her again and yep still did it so sealed off again, and scrubbed clean.
Pip will have to get used to not sleeping in them.
I have increased the volume of substrate so she can have a good dig if she wants.
So then folks any ideas?

My first Ham done that for a few days in her early weeks then moved into her house. She never peed in her house though.

I've no ideas apart from ride it out, keep cleaning and wait for her to move back into her house. Hopefully soon cos the ventilation in the tubes is poor.

Pip's tubes are well ventilated the pee runs out of them..!
Forrest from the start made himself a toilet corner Pip hasn't done that so am just hoping.
She isn't happy that I have blocked off the tube entrances she is trying anything to get the caps off.....

Oh dear. I doubt she'll stay there for long. I'm not an expert but maybe she's there because that's where she feels most safe? Move her house slightly and change things round a touch without stressing her too much? Something must be making her go to the tubes.

They love misbehaving don't they.

Good luck Rads

if the house that was weed in was in a corner, try putting a potty in that corner and have the house somewhere else. The house would need a good clean as if there is any trace of wee smell the hamster will likely were there again.

Some hamsters weein lots of places when young, then establish a wee corner.

CMB the house was scrubbed out and then washed in boiling water, I had moved it too so I can keep an eye on things, Pip wasn't happy but she will have to live with it.

Hi Folks,
Just thought I would post this,
Today Pippin has been up at least half the day, she has emptied her food bowl, she has destroyed her hamster fruit stick and taken it all back to her nest, she didn't stop there she has been scooting about her cage like an absolute loon, my wife came in and Pip ran across the cage so fast I thought she was going to go through the cage bars, an did her best to hide...
Her back end looks rather rounded, and she seems to have put on weight in the last few days, we have had her three weeks today and having brushed up on gestation periods and I am assuming she isn't pregnant as we have had her 21 days now..
Could this just be a glitch in her behaviour?

Because she's a girl I'd say these days can happen. Suzi had weird, random and funny days like this. They do put on most of there weight round the back end don't they?
