Haha! Not when you then have to put them all into however many cages, and feed and clean them all out!
Might be worth speaking to the shop anyway. They need to know what sex the hamsters are, and they must make sure they are separated. I'm not sure there would be too many happy parents if their child's hamster Fred suddenly had 12 babies!

She's spot on mate.

Bet you can't wait to start playing with her and allowing her to explore.

Talking Re: Say Hello to Pippin

Well having had Pippin for a whole week, she is getting used to me she has stopped trying to nibble my fingers/hand and seems fairly unfazed by being stroked, this seems to be a good sign, though sometimes she is very jumpy and goes off and hides in her tubes at the back of her cage.
Pip runs like a berserk thing in her wheel I will have to try and get a good shot of her mid-flight in the wheel.
I haven't seen her using the sand bath as yet but she does go in it as I find the sand scattered about on the substrate of her cage.
Pip is very keen to explore and will come to the cage door when I open it and do her best to get out, she has already launched her self from the cage door/my hand a good metre down to the floor.... luckily no harm done except my wits as in frightened out of...!
I am considering starting a Pippins thread..

Sounds like she's settling in just fine.

When do you plan on letting her out?

As I'm guessing she's roughly the same age as my new girl, I thought I'd compare - have you noticed her itching and scratching like a dog while grooming? My new girl Poppy is doing it and I'm concerned.

Yep Pippin is doing the same, I think she is trying to scent everything with her scent glands on her flanks, could be she is heat as only does it at night . I am not overly concerned as it is a natural thing to do and her cage is brand new as are the toys food bedding etc

I am wondering that Forrest's smell is still about the house I guess and him being a boy an all......

As for letting her out next week sometime under very controlled conditions, I don't fancy losing her.

Well that's put my mind at rest a bit.

Have you ever had a girl hamster before? They're a real handfull compared to the males.

Poor Forrest. Bet you miss him like mad.

It took me a lot of courage to use Suzis old stuff for Poppy. It was so upsetting.

I destroyed all of Forrest's things inc his cage etc., I just used the starter cage that was in the garage thoroughly washed in hot water etc., then got a new XL P@H cage for Pippin and made a few minor modifications to suit.
Forrest has a corner of the garden with a Rosemary bush planted over him as a memorial when I go out there I always have a chat with the little dude .
I know girl hamsters can be a handful I rescued one last year and a mate of mine had him for his little boy for his birthday Fluff as she is called is totally mad

I got rid of most of Suzi''s belonging's too but her cages were kept and deep cleaned.

That's great what you've done with Forrest mate. It's nice knowing he's still there, probably having a better time of it than you! And he's in peace pain free.

Suzi was buried in a plant pot with her favorite toys and treats, in the bed she passed away in. She's outside my front door and every time I'm down I have a chat with her just like you. It really helps. I'm still having moments where I break down and cry over her though, but it's followed by a smile now where it was anger and self blame before.

Keep us updates on Pippin pal can't wait to see the girl exploring in some pics.
