No, but it doesn't seem to go anywhere else! The bars on the stand aren't big enough for the yellow bit the screw is in to go through ... I'll see how he does on it later seeing as he has now decided he likes it and try to get a photo and then maybe we can all figure it out. Though he is quite tiny anyway so he can't reach it and once the Trixie wheel arrives I'll swap it, so it's only temporary! Might get one from Amazon tonight so it comes tomorrow instead of next week!

Well, that was odd! Literally, as soon as I posted the last post there was a knock on the door. My Amazon parcel - finally! It appears I did order a Trixie wheel yesterday! So I have put it in Sweep's cage for him, which he is currently glaring at!
I also discovered how to fix the other wheel and get both yellow bits at the back - but it made it noisy again! So maybe it's done like that for noise control or something?? Anyway, will see is Sweep gets on with this new wheel. If not I'll have to put the old one back as he is more used to that - even though he's pretty much ignored it until today! The only problem with the Trixie wheel is that I have to have the bottom of it directly on the bottom of the cage, under any substrate, otherwise it has to go in at an angle because it is a little bigger (like only a few cm's!) than the other!

Just mess around with the trixie wheel you'll get it right. I was gonna suggest putting both in there till her uses the better one but it's quite tight. Just keep the one he's been using for a week or so maybe?

Is it just wood shaving you use for substrate?

His cage looks lovely and great for a hammy. I was also thinking the yellow square looked a bit risky - if you look at the photo on your link it seems to be on the rear of the cage and not the inside. Maybe you put the bolt through the middle, then one yellow plate then something else then the other yellow plate? Or maybe they just sent you two by mistake - I'll see if I can find some assembly instructions.

Can't find any but it looks like the yellow square goes on the back of the wheel between the wheel and the stand - not sure why there are two.

Sweep will probably be wanting a couple of quiet days of adjustment time again now with all those exciting new things appearing!

Could it be for wire cage mounting on the bars. One yellow bit outside the bars the other yellow bit inside the bars then the bolt through the wheel and the two yellow bits and then a screw etc on the outside of the cage to hold it in place.

Leaving the stand on its own?

You're right - the yellow bits went on the back! The bolt and the round metal thing (washer?) went through the middle, then the first yellow bit, then the stand, then the fina; yellow before the screw thing to do it all up! Odd thing is when it was the wrong way round it was totally silent, otherwise it was noisy!
He seems to be enjoying his Trixie wheel now though and is ... Well, I'll let him tell you ...

Hi!! It's Sweep. So I am liking this round thing now. Apparently it is called a wheel. It is fun because it goes round and round and round forever and ever! It's not quite as fun as digging, but very almost! I have been running round and round in it and then running through the tunnel, then hiding in the house and popping out my head to shout "BOO!" and then doing it all over again! It's so much fun! Now I am having a little rest and eating some dinner. After dinner I will relax for a bit and wait for the pink human lady to go to her nest and then I am going to have an adventure!

It's so funny when they repeat the same pattern over and over again! Then they stop for a quick breather and drink then off they go again!

I love your description of his life too it makes it so fun to read

Has he pee'd in the wheel yet lol? What is he doing that's bizarre at the minute there must be something haha

I love Sweep's cage by the way! Lucky lad

No, he hasn't peed in the wheel! Think he might be sleeping but not sure cos it all went quiet a minute or two ago ... Not that bizarre!

"Actually, I am learning how to make slippers!" Sweep

Thanks. Hadn't realised how big some of the items would be when I ordered them so it feels like there isn't enough room in there! If I had the space here I'd happily put him in a cage double the length (assuming I found one of course!). But I'm staying with my family, and there just isn't the room!

Sweep here! Just wanted to say ... Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! This wheel thing is SO much fun!!

I got Poppy's new bin in Ikea today for 10 pounds and its MASSIVE, mind you Sweep's is big it just looks like the toys have taken more room than anticipated! I think ham owners get more excited by their cage than the hams themselves!

I've always kept my habitats on the floor for lol, i think i'm the only one that does it compared to you guys on here!

Mind you Suzi and poppy had and have their own room. I used to leave Suzi's cage open permanently for the last 18 months. I think you just kind of know when there's a mutual trust and they learn what they can and can't do.

Have you ever had any hams that were permanent mischief or did they generally learn whats right and wrong? I don't know if that's a silly question but i'm intrigued..

This is Sweep! I don't know the answer to your questions, so I will let the pink human lady answer. But I would like to be somewhere so big I never see the same bit twice!

All my hams have been different, and to be honest most I don't remember that much as I was a kid when I had them. The last 2 I had, though, were Duck and Belle. Belle was such a little sweetheart. She was kind, gentle and always made me feel better. I'd happily let her play on the bed and she'd never go too far from me. She really was my best friend. She'd come running up to the bars of the cage and wait patiently to come out. She always decided when she'd had enough play time, and usually after she'd have a little sleep before running marathons on her wheel! I think she held the most special place in my heart. She still does to be honest. Duck, well he was a little mischievous boy! He loved to climb to the top of the Alexander cage and just drop down - he nearly gave me a heart attack! When I let him out the cage he'd happily stay out all night if he was allowed to and as soon as I put him back, he'd come running to the door and want to come back out!
