Thanks Flowerfairy I have been anxious about that post since I wrote it, having only been here a few days I don't want to go making the wrong impression.

A little update on Sid

Last night he was gnoshing down on his bars for most of the night, which is to be expected after a move I should imagine. So while we were at the store picking up cat litter I grabbed a few more toys and chewing things for him.
I also spotted the most adorable sputnik, it is kind of a pale sage green single colour and much to my husbands despair over the £3 price difference it was added to our basket For some reason when we arrived home Sid was romping about his cage so I thought I may aswell stick his new bits and pieces in, he sat in the corner grooming himself while I attached his sputnik and one of the toys, come the second he wandered over and I kept a wary eye on him but all he did was sniff my hand and go back in his tube. For some reason I really struggled with getting the bolt thing on this toy and he wandered back over queue the hmmm now I will be nipped/bitten mode but he didn't thankfully he just had another a sniff and walked off. At this point I had to give in and ask my husband to sort the damn bolt out so he took over. Again Sid walked over to have a nose but this time he reared up on his back legs, showed his teeth and screeched before walking off to the corner of the cage with a look of disgust. Too keep him in the corner I offered him sunflower seed which he promptly pouched and stood there looking at me through the bars. So I offered the tiny (nail size) piece of carrot I was planning to pop in his food bowl, I wasn't sure if he had been given fresh food in the pet store so I will offer fresh food slowly and in small quantities incase it upsets his tummy. Anyway enough waffle I am pleased he is comfortable accepting treats from my hands but wowser what a display at the husband lol I am sure it was just to do with the amount of time scary human hands had been invading his cage, however now his new bits and bobs are in no hands will be invading for few days.

He's lovely! No they don't like hands in the cage lol! Especially at first. I'm sure he'll settle in fine now. He had maybe got used to your scent if you had been doing things, and hubbies scent was new.

Lovely photo! Sid looks very comfortable in his sputnik

I think two pairs of hands in the cage was just a bit too much to take at once, I'm sure he'll soon get used you both soon enough & settle down though.

Thanks Cyoher, I am pleased to say that every night his bar chewing is getting less and less, I actually can't recall any from last night. Although there was lots of jingling (how apt) he was playing with this wooden chew toy with a bell (might be removed haha) and his ball thingy that has one inside. What sort of insane person goes for two noisy toys with a nocturnal animal is beyond me.

Strange Sid I think you need to work on your body clock. I've noticed that everyday around midday Sid is out and about, amusing himself and nibbling food. If I walk past his cage he's quickly to the door paws up. This goes on for an hour or two and then he retreats back to his Sputnik and sleeps till around 8-9..

Aww bless! Make the most of it in case he suddenly realises he's a hamster & changes schedule!

Sid appears to be a comfortable and curious little guy so I popped a treat on my hand tonight... The brussel leaf acting as a plate.. He did actually start off with his bum on my fingers ate a pea then shifted position. Once he had eaten, I was surprised he didn't pouch he moved around nibbling my fingers each time with increasing pressure, my thumb took the hardest one which wasn't painful just a good pinch..
