Default RE Silver Grey

Hello!

I recently brought home my long haired male hamster from my friend's accidental litter. At first I thought he was pure white with black eyes. It turns out he has grey-ish looking spots on his face and bum. Which led us to think he's a dominant spot banded or something?

Then I realize (yeah, I'm slow) that he has reddish eyes. Which made me pause for a bit cause his entire litter is black, silver grey and white. Mum is golden and dad is black dominant spot banded. Or something like that. I'm not sure.

Could he be a RE silver grey? His coloured spots don't show up in pictures, they are very light and faded looking.

Anyone have pictures of RE silver greys for me to compare him to maybe?

Thanks!

Some colors which carry for Cinnamon will have reddish colored dark eyes. Cinnamon + Sg would be a silver blonde which will look kind of like a cream but a more pinkish shade of cream then normal cream and will be unlike a cream having agouti markings on the body. REC + Sg will produce a RE Ivory which is a pinkish shade of Cream which is much paler then normal cream and will have obvious red eyes which are very vibrant red as a pup turning into a more dark red almost black color as and adult

Any cream color on Dominant Spot pattern is very hard to see in person and almost impossible to photograph on camera unless the hamster is set on top of pure white paper.

Any chance we can see a photo of him?

That's interesting (not that I really understood it. I need to go and do some reading on genetics!). The spots he does have looks entirely gray though, I don't detect a creamy shade but it could just be my untrained eye.

I will try to get a photo of him on pure white paper but it would have to wait till the weekend probably since he's super hyper active at night and won't sit still for anything. Regular photos, I can provide.

*oh dear.. I have no idea how to post photos since I can't provide urls

I'll try and get better photos soon tho. His whole litter consisted of blacks, silver greys and white hams. He's one of the whites. All of them have the most faded spots on them. And very limited spotting too.

Like this?

Edit: oh it worked!! Sorry that picture is 90 degrees off. You can just barely see the shade of grey above his eyes. Juuuust barely.

In the 2nd shot it looks like he may be a Sable Banded Dominant Spot and unless the sire is pedigreed and no chance of the white belly gene I would suspected your lovely boy is a Sable Roan Banded Dominant spot. The Roan explains the red glow eyes too.
