Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
I hope Mocho's next visit to the vet will be ok. If you compared them both "side by side" it's normal to see him worse, but from the distance he looks fine, I'm sure you're taking good care of him and that his condition is ok. FIngers crossed

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
Dear Mocho,
It's been so good catching up on the ham-net & hamophone. I'm glad you're enjoying the peace now Jarvis has gone home and you're the centre of attention. Thought I'd update you on my dive, I've not managed to do it again but have tried a few times to land on the very soft pillows but, mom's been very alert.
Yesterday we got snow, I was doing my hamathon training and mom told me all about it. But, once again within a few hours it was almost all gone. I got loads of extra tissue which I pouched right away & added to my bed.
I know you've got a follow-up appointment at the vet at the end of the month, you're doing so good my dear ham-pal. I'm so proud of you. Big Hugs XXX Harvey

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
It is with a very sad and heavy heart that I post this news. Late yesterday evening Jarvis slipped away and crossed the rainbow bridge. He only went home a week ago. During his stay here he was so very friendly and active and I had more interaction with him than during any previous visit. I was stunned to hear a couple of days ago that he had been wobbly one evening and then taken to his nest. Everything possible was done to care for him but gradually he lost interest in food and then water. It was a peaceful end in his nest.
His memorial will follow.

Oh Coco, I'm so sorry! I'm in shock. Please send my condolences to your daughter. He had been full of beans during his stay with you his granny.
One thing for sure Jarvis was well & truly loved and I'm glad he passed in his cage peacefully.
Big Big Hugs XXX

Coco I'm so sorry to hear such sad news *hugs* it must have been a real shock having seen him so busy & happy with you recently.
I'm so glad for you that you had that last visit to enjoy, try to hang on to those happy memories at this difficult time.
It's good to know his time came peacefully & without suffering but I know he will be sadly missed.

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
Thank you Lizzy, BP and cypher. I have been very upset. I tried to start his memorial but had to stop. Ironically I am about to go to a memorial service in London. My daughter is here and sends thanks for the condolences. Jarvis has been laid to rest here with the others from her hamily under the potted Rose bush that waits for a permanent home with Mum.

It is hard Coco, take your time with your memorial for the lovely Jarvis, it will come when the time is right.
Thinking of you.

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
Mocho's vet review.
Mocho behaved very well with the vet as he always has. His coat is the obvious problem. As predicted, with the coming of Spring and his age, the coat is thinning anyway. His tummy fur too. The skin underneath is more easily visible and so nice and pink. I must watch for signs of scratching and red skin. As the skin thins with Cushings, the mites can get very active. So far so good but mite treatment could be needed. His weight is stable, no increased drinking and so generally his condition is stable. If the fur loss continues, the dose of his meds can be increased as it is low at present. So Cushings is being held in check and I am lucky to have a specialist vet who is prepared to treat hamsters. His slightly wobbly lower tooth is also ok and has not splayed out any further. So overall it was encouraging.
