Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
Thank you all so much. Just can't help worrying. Tonight I have not seen him but he is ok. His original water bottle up the slope was used in the last 24 hrs. Then tonight I put his veggie treats in a lid from a herb bottle. This has been in use for several days and is very shallow. Tonight I turned my back for a few minutes and looking back it had been pulled to the bendy bridge entrance to his house and emptied! Honestly, perhaps I need to serve Sir Mocho his treats even closer to home!

It's good that he has been eating his veggies, too. It is so important that he keeps his appetite so he can keep up his strength. I would just put all of his necessities as close as possible to his home and keep him as cozy as possible. I'm sure he appreciates all that you are doing for him.

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
So sorry to hear Mocho has become a bit unsteady and wobbly on his paws now Coco. The changes you have made sound really good and I'm sure Mocho appreciates everything you do for him, he couldn't want for better care or love. It sounds like he is still enjoying his food and I'm sure he'll be enjoying getting spoiled.
Hoping he continues to stay as strong and determined for a while yet

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
Thank you Serendipity, ff, cypher, TL, Jen, dreamtree and BP for all your encouragement. I have seen Mocho out since and he has been drinking ok. I saw him use the foodbowl last night and thought it was a bit low in the fitch. He was in danger of nose diving in it. So I adjusted that and it seems at a more comfortable level. He is also keen on taking extra strips of paper into his nest. It is just so hard seeing him so wobbly and frail. But he is managing to do all he needs to.

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
I can imagine how hard it must be to see your Sir Mocho like that Coco. I've not had to go through the aged hamster thing yet but knowing how active and independant they are it must be really sad to see. Hugs to you Coco x

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
I know that it must be so heartbreaking to see your sweet Sir Mocho having difficulties being independent like he used to be. I'm sure it is hard for him not to be able to do all that he is accustomed to doing, also. He is truly lucky to have you catering to all of his needs and wants during his old age. My heart goes out to you. Hugs to you, Coco; tons of cuddles to your brave, determined warrior Sir Mocho, too.

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
I am sorry to hear that Mocho has become unsteady on his paws and is also wobbly, but I'm sure he appreciates the cage alterations to make things easier for him to get around and reach both his food and water more easily. Lovely to hear Mocho is still enjoying his treats - so cute hearing that he made his treats disappear when you back was turned, I'm sure Mocho appreciated his treats being delivered to straight to his door.

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
Thanks BP, dreamtree and SKB. Everyone is being so kind at this difficult time.
Mocho has already been out eating his porridge, taking his veggies and drinking ok.
I gave him some favourite pumpkin seeds by hand and he always takes them so gently and searches around at the end to check he hasn't missed any!
