Re: Charlie's thread
Maybe it's getting a bit warm indoors & the mountain of substrate is making a bit of cooler space in his house?!

Re: Charlie's thread
His mound is a lookout post. He's looking for a female. Well it is Spring/summer.
Maybe Charlie's old cage needs Charlotte (female hamster) lol

It's funny. When I was a kid they used to sell Good -N-Plenty, a candy with licorice inside. The song for the commercials used to be, "Charlie says, I love my Good-N-Plenty. Charlie says, it really ring s a bell. Charlie says, I love my Good-N-Plenty, then something else, da da da that I love so well." Every time I see the name Charlie, the music to that song goes through my head. LOLOLOLOL I must be having senior moments.
Charlie is just adorable. It is hard to leave them and as they get older they don't care for going visiting.

Ha ha! The song that goes through my head (and we sing it to him) is Ernie the Milkman. When little boy was about 2 he used to like the song that was on a children's cd we played in the car (for some strange reason as it isn't really a children's song) and we used to change the name Ernie for little boy's name which rhymed. When we got Charlie, little boy sang that song to him and changed the name to Charlie - which also fits instead of Ernie.
So we sing "Charlie.....it's Charlie ..........and he drove the fastest milk cart in the West!"
If you don't know it Dr McK - here is the video of the song from 1971

I think your sherbet and liquorice sweet sounds like what we called "Sherbet dabs" It was a cardboard tube with sherbet in and a liquorice stick sticking out of the top that had a hole in the middle like a straw, so you could suck the sherbet through it. Lovely
CMB - I like the idea of a female lookout post lol! Cypher - I'm wondering if it might be insulation rather than getting a bit warm - there were a couple of damp chilly days last week and maybe he felt a bit colder without all the cooking and extra warmth from us being in the house. We've had the heating off for ages but cooking probably warmed things up more.

Re: Charlie's thread
A bit late to say welcome back but we have been tiringly busy here. It was very cold here mid week and had to give porridge to Mocho to coax him out at all. It's warmer now and have opened doors and windows to let the warmer air inside!
*waiting impatiently for the big day tomorrow!*

Re: Charlie's thread
Hello Coco Yes the weather is strange - cold for a few days and then a scorcher today. At this rate I won't get the birthday cake finished lol. Busy here too as little boy is here for another couple of weeks, and back to school tomorrow, plus other half has a hospital appointment tomorrow and we're all going. But should be organised by the time Charlie wakes up tomorrow night.
I found some unwelcome fluttery gate crashers in my pots and pans cupboard today so lots of cleaning and washing up today.

Re: Charlie's thread
Well they look like cakes when they're baked, but after I cut the raised top off to make two flat halves of a sandwich cake, I noticed the texture was more like a scone (presumably because there's no fat in them). Not that Charlie will know the difference between a scone and a cake lol. I took some photos but not organised enough to upload them yet

Re: Charlie's thread
Interested to hear what Charlie thinks of the cake, I'm tempted to make one myself!
Charlie is braver than me lol, if I see a spider I'll run out of the room
