Default Introducing Hazel Nut

Hi all,

I've just become a hammy-mum last week. She's my first syrian (a few years ago, I had a dwarf who somehow managed to live a couple of years despite my ignorance) and I ended up with her much sooner than I was expecting to bring a hammy home. Fortunately, I had one large enough bin mostly set up but am now working on expanding on it. I bought her because she and her tankmate appeared so much larger than the other hammies in the store and I became really nervous that they would start fighting any time now.

Of course, after reading more about syrians/hamsters once I got her home, I realized she might not have been as old as I thought and maybe the other hamsters were just younger than I thought (she and her tankmate were the only ones I saw whose eyes were wide open and their ears erect). I'm actually not sure where she measures in the syrian hamster scale but here she is (hopefully I got the picture posting thing down)

I think she's actually darker now than she was when I got her last week but maybe my memory is off.

Ahh sorry--I thought I had responded to this thread. Thank you all. I finally got more pics of her--I moved her last night from her bin cage to what was supposed to be her new cage but became her playpen because every time I put her in her bin after playtime, she was not a happy camper

Sorry for the poor quality

Her with dental chew for the first time--this is AFTER she managed to get me to let go of it, dropped it, went searching for it, then decided it was far too good to have out in the open. It's also too big for her regular stash as she soon learned so is now resting comfortable behind her cage right next to a nest/her stash.

Not a good pic but her face--I'm so upset about the cable tie being right in the middle of her face since I would have loved this pic :

Lovely photographs, Graysome and be-lated congratulations on your new family member.

Our fluffs really do love those chews, if I'd never have found HC, then I wouldn't know about hammies loving them and mine would have been deprived!

Hazel Nut is certainly a cutie.

Thanks Artisans! I heard her last night and thought she was trying to climb up the back wall, which is a sheet of corrugated plastic--turns out she was trying to drag out the chew from where she put it behind the wheel. I heard about those chews on HC as well and thought I would have to find it online but was surprised to find it at a nearby shop.

My hams also love the toothbrush chews. Your Hazel Nut is just beautiful. I love the cabletie photo, even with it in the way. What a character she is.
