Re: Introducing Poppy..
I can't imagine anyone not falling in love with her. I'd have taken her in seconds. A black female LH hammy with a gorgeous hairdo? Really? In a second, without a doubt. This is actually her fifth home that she's been in. She was born in her first home, the boy who didn't care for her color???? second home, third home, the folks who felt she was too fast for the lady and her grandson, then she moved in with you SinNyx, fourth home, and now 5th home=Forever home
If anyone remembers, when I went to get Nutmeg, they had told me she was a sable. I had wanted one since forever and ran out the door to get her. Turned out she's a Golden. You know, the plain old Golden hammy that everyone thinks of when you say "Hamster"? But it didn't matter to me. I looked at her, fell in love and I love her still. When I went to adopt a dog 4 years ago after the death of my beautiful Lab mix, I decided that I wanted a small dog, under 10 pounds. I told the rescue that I wanted a small dog under ten pounds, but that I didn't care what breed it was, what color it was, or how old it was. I came home with Yoda, a light brown Chihuahua who was 3 years old and abandoned on the street. He's my buddy and goes wherever I go. Even if a color, breed or type is wanted, once a pet is in your home it should be forever. To get rid of it because of it's color is just sad and irresponsible. The family of the boy is sending him some pathetic messages about appearances and committment which will carry over into his adult life by allowing him to do this.

Re: Introducing Poppy..
I have no idea who wouldn't love her either. Her new owner certainly fell in love with her, and considering she has quite a few robos, I'm sure she will have no problem with her being a bit fast.
5th time lucky, ay? I've never cared about the colour of my hamsters, even when I first owned them as a child. I had a sable, golden, sable banded, then cream banded (the list goes on!).
I hate how people get pets for their children, who then treat them as a toy. It's like a child not liking the colour of a Christmas present. It's a living being at the end of the day.

Re: Introducing Poppy..
That is a beyond stupid reason for not wanting to keep a hamster. Thank goodness she has a lovely new forever home with you. She's gorgeous too- so fluffy!

Re: Introducing Poppy..
I am so utterly glad Poppy found her way home to you SinNyx - hugs to you for rescuing these precious little ones. I am also so glad her former owners for some stupid reason rehomed her for truly they wouldn't have loved her for who she is. But now you have made sure she has gone to her forever home where she will be looked after. Poppy is still very young - she will forget those sad homing experiences and will enjoy her new family. xx

Re: Introducing Poppy..
Thank you everyone
Poppy is now known as 'Mouse' and she has taking treats off her new owner as well as completely trashed her cage, though I think her owner is over-joyed with her.
It's great to have a success story, especially from having so many homes.

That is lovely news SinNyx, you must be overjoyed knowing your rescues are going to good, loving homes. Well done! x
