Re: Introducing Poppy..
Man, never get a hamster for a small child. I loved animals as a kid but I was still too impatient and rough (I still have trouble waiting though) Even so, if my parents had gotten me a hammie I wouldn't care if it was white, black, brown, grey, blue or neon green! I would still accept it and try to care for it (admittedly probably scarring it to death in the process.) I never have refused an animal because of what it looked like, sounded like, felt like, smelled like....yeah. She's a beauty! So fluffy! I love the name!

Re: Introducing Poppy..
He wanted a different colour? What a dreadful reason for rehoming a ham!
Glad to know she is in good hands now

Re: Introducing Poppy..
What a horrible child! Why even bother getting an animal if that's all you care about? It's not just like having the right colour iPhone. -sigh- she's so pretty, she doesn't deserve this nonsense!
When I got my first ham my mum just showed me the box from the pet shop when she picked me up from my Grannies the day before my birthday, I think I was 8? I went crazy thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou oh I'm going to love it so much this is the best present ever I love you mum I LOVE YOU LITTLE PET (at that stage I didn't know if it was a hamster, gerbil, rat or a pet rock because obviously I couldn't open the box until we got home) I wouldn't have cared if she had one eye, purple fur and horns I was going to love her anyway. She turned out to be the sweetest little cinnamon banded syrian and I loved her to bits and called her Whiskers.
Lesson: if your kid is not THAT EXCITED they don't really want a pet that much. Get them a Furby.

Re: Introducing Poppy..
I am meeting up with someone tomorrow regarding Poppy, fingers crossed for her, it could be her forever home.
It is such a shame she was unwanted for such a silly reason, I loved every animal I had as a child, no matter the colour. I just hope their new hamster is having a better life.

She has gone to her new home - her new owner fell in love with her and will be updating me on her progress.
