Re: Introducing Pekoe
Funnily enough, she had so much fun she didn't want to leave the couch, LOL! I had to corner her to get her back and then she was like a hot potato on the way back to the tank. She was fine though.
On Friday, when I do all the tank cleans, I'll be moving her into Java's old 29gal to give her the added bonus of an 11'' wheel, which frees our 20gal long for Darissa when she is separated from her litter. Nancy has let me know she prefers to use the wheel as a nest, so I figured allotting her space for an 11'' wheel may not be in the hams best interest, when Pekoe just run-run-runs. Plus, once Biscotti started to get to this size, we moved him to his 11'' wodent wheel. I haven't seen her run the past few nights, so no idea if her back is arching, but will look tonight when she's up. Chai is for sure fine in hers, though we have an 8'' WW to move her into once she's outgrown the spinner.

Re: Introducing Pekoe
"What sand, I dunno what you're talking about..."
It's Nat. Geo, and it's their first time with it. I've found with Java, when we got her so young she OBSESSED over the sand, so I don't like giving it to babies, and prefer to wait until they grow a bit.

Re: Introducing Pekoe
Haha, yes! She's getting quite big, almost as big as Scotti now. She had a LOT of fun in the sand. Today was the first day they got it, so both girls were quite amused by it.

Re: Introducing Pekoe
Pekoe is growing to be a fine, and destructive, young girl. We're hoping she will have her first litter at the very end of the year, or beginning of the new year. She's taken a shining to waddling onto my hand for attention, and is quite the active young girl. Very sweet!
She can be a bit jumpy, but she has gotten much better. She is about the same size as the golden boy we kept from Darissa's litter, but it not as long, and more compact.
I also use her as an educational helper sometimes, mainly to reassure people that just because nipples are visible doesn't mean your ham is pregnant! They show up really well on Pekoe because of her band. Java's also show up more.

Re: Introducing Pekoe
Thanks! She's doing very well, and is very cuddly all of a sudden. I quite like it. She is the first of our hams to try a "kong" as a chew toy and has been having quite some fun trying to get all the treats I stuff in it out.
