xD 4/6 of my Syrians are LH they're just so beautiful! Grooming them is also very nice - aas long as they want to be groomed :P

So the taming of Dexter is going well. He's less nervous.

He's always in bed but is happy to be winkled out for a dig in his sand bath.
I'm going with positive hand association. The hand puts him in the sand bath etc.
it's working I think
He's trusting more.

Being a breeder hammy though I would have expected he was more used to hands and being handled. I have to wonder what I did wrong..

Have you tried getting him out away from the cage, im using an big cardboard box to pur him in for a few minutes at a time when hes awake, and try scooping him up with both hands either side, let him walk over your hand then back down? The breeder ive just got mine from advised me to do this and Squibbles is taking pretty well to it already

Being so timid he's not one I would take out and away from cage. I have done in the past with other timid hams and it has ended stressfully for us both. Until he is more used to me in general I think in cage handling might be best and safest.
