Talking Richard the 2nd

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum and I own a six week old golden Syrian hamster called Richard and I was wondering if it normal that a Syrian at six weeks old is just under the 100g mark hes not dramatically under 100g but hes about 97- 98g. But when he first came to my home and when I first held him he was like the size of a dwarf hamster. Is this normal?!

I've also just measured him and he's about 14.5 cm.

Hello, welcome to the forum!

Richard looks lovely - it's normal for them to be gaining weight in this time, especially if he was only just removed from his siblings as he isn't sharing his food any more and will be doing some growing! It's also normal for their wieghts to change week by week up to about 8g, so don't worry too much if he does increase/decrease in weight

OMG! Richard is beautiful! And that weight at his age is wonderful. He's going to be a nice big hammy. I think he is also a Long Haired baby too. How lovely!

Reminds me of Pook, who I was told was six weeks, but people here mentioned he looked younger, as young as four weeks or so.....They're adorable at that age....
