Default Long Haired Hippy Freaks!

I hadn't done that much quality research on long haired Syrians. I just thought they used the wrong conditioner.

And that they neglected regular visits to the barber.....

This little article, dealing a bit with show hamsters, really opened my eyes to the noble, hirsute, greek godlike matt of fur that lives with me!

Long Haired Syrians

I also kinda figured out what the 'benefit' is for all that hair.....comparing some pics there? It's like many other species...males have intense fur or foliage of some kind to compete, and to appear larger....

Ziggy now thinks he is descended from lions..........sigh.....

I really want a long haired hamster....I've never had one. I had a few long haired guinea pigs and I have a long haired rabbit and I love the fluffiness! Lol.

I hate the split ends and dreadlocks though....... lol

I've had two hammies and both were long hair, which is odd since I prefer the short hair varieties. I am slowly growing fond though, of the great attention they pay to the Techinicolor Dreamcoats

Haha! I'm keeping Pumpkin(my rabbit)'s hair short because it gets so tangled!

I've only had 2 Syrians(well, technically I currently have 6, but that's counting babies), all shorthair, but I think I might actually like long haired ones more. But I might be allergic....I'm allergic to anything with fur but I manage with my pets by taking meds and washing my hands. It would kill me to get a long haired one and find out I can't stand them and have to give him/her away.

I adore Longhaired Syrians! Tansy is my third in a row now. I love how fluffy and snuggle-able they are.

Colby, I'm allergic, but it doesn't bother me. I'm allergic to most animals, but if I let that stop me I wouldn't be able to keep any, and then I would just be miserable.

Same here. The only one that really bothers me is my cat, but I love him so much I couldn't give him up.

My SO doesn't really like LH'd hams, I'm not really sure why.

I've had LH females but never a male... they're just so fluffy!

I love LH hammies! My Puff was adorable. Yes, bedding tends to get caught in their skirts and a wheel with a spindle has to be watched, or better yet, replaced by one without a spindle. But, oh, my Puff was beautiful and had lovely fur.

All my Syrians are LH, they're just so fluffy and adorable! Hamish has the longest at the moment, this is him about 6 weeks ago, although he's had a little trim since then - I worry about him overheating in the weather we're having at the moment!
