Hahaha that photo is hilarious, it is as if he is doing it on purpose! I' ve read a bit of your blog and it sounds like you are managing him very well but don't hesitate to ask here if you need anything

Re: Pippin d'Artagnan the Dire-Hamster
Well I've woken him up and really glad I did because the house he has been in for the last few days had condensation in it! I've take all the shelter type homes out of the cage so he has to make a nest. I have a bigger cage in my parents house that I might pick up this weekend...

Here are some more photos of Pippin, exploring my knitting, eating a pistachio nut and sleeping on my shoulder! There is a gif of him on my blog as well.

Re: Pippin d'Artagnan the Dire-Hamster
Pippin is adorable, and I can tell that the feeling of comfort is mutual - Pippin seems to enjoy your company as much as you do his!
Animals can be at the top of the list when it comes to therapy. We also have fish - eight aquariums - and, when I am stressed, I often sit and watch my finned babies swim and play...it is very easy for me to lose time doing this! It is also calming and relaxing to watch and play with our new-to-us hamster, Trix, who is also living in an aquarium (I'm sure the fish are confused about this four legged fish living out of water).
One of my favourite quotations:
"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened" ~Anatole France

It can be a little frustrating.
Our little girl, Trix, seems comfortable with me some days, and then afraid of me on others! I can usually slowly reach in and pet her while she is eating treats, but when I did this last night, she bolted from me as if I were a scary monster!

Re: Pippin d'Artagnan the Dire-Hamster
Bit more information on the weird noise he was making yesterday...
I've been in Berlin for the last week, and when I got back from work last night, I decided that I should definitely clean out Pippin's cage. He was NOT impressed, but was fairly happy trundling around in his ball for ten minutes or so. When I was done, I put him on my bed with his ball for safety, opened it and let him run around for a while.
fter ten minutes of exploration, he suddenly started making the noise. He did this when we first picked him up from Pets at Home, the first time I had ever heard a hamster make a noise of any description, and I thought it was an alarm cry. Fair enough, it can't have been VERY fun...but I have no idea why he did it last night.

He's cute, he looks a bit like my Nimbus, who is a pure white black eyed Syrian.
