Silly questions about hamster balls
This is going to sound daft but I'm still pretty new to Syrians.
Is it sensible to have more than one hamster in balls out in the same room at the same time? Obviously they'll be in their own balls! I don't know what I think's going to happen but...................................

Re: Silly questions about hamster balls
I know some people do it, but obviously make sure the lids are secure so one of them doesn't manage to get out

Re: Silly questions about hamster balls
All my hammies have their run-about balls securely taped on either side of the door. I've learned after enough hams escaped over the years. I also crazy glue the outside center seam when I first put the ball together, since I've had them pop apart when a ham has crashed into furniture. I've had as many as 5 hammy balls going around my house like a choo-choo train and have not had any problems. I've learned to lift my legs as 3 hammies come rolling by the couch as I am watching TV.

Re: Silly questions about hamster balls
My four sometimes go in the balls at once or maybe just two at same time. They prefer it to just rolling around by themselves in the ball. They seem to like chasing each other and banging into each other. I only leave them in 1o or 15 minutes at the very max.

Would it effect a Syrian if they saw a dwarf in another ball?

Actually, that's a good question. I don't allow them out together, more so that the little ones don't get frightened. The Syrians have larger run-about balls and they could bang the little ones around and really hurt them.

Re: Silly questions about hamster balls
When Lori is a bit more confident/settled I'll let them both loose in their balls then.
Thanks for the replies.
