colour advice from a showing angle
As my decisions proces continues on deciding my second syrain colour for the future (im starting with creams0. I want to know what would be best from a showing angle ie which of the colours I like would show best this is not the most important issue in my opinoin but one id like to keep in mind before chooseing. im also keeping in mind whats compatble with cream
The colours are
The greys
Light
Dark
Silver
(note I will only choose one grey and its offshoots ivory, smoke pearl etc)
Cinnamon and its of shoots i.e. dove rec, are there anymore? ( I want to produce an offshoot very occasionally and not breed lines of them myself)
Golden’s are there any offshoots?
I really do want to produce good quality show hamster as well as producing nice friendly pets . I really do want to make the right choice here so that’s why I am really taking my time here.

Dove is non-standard, don't know if that will put you off the cinnie route.

well other offshoots are of course, mink, honey, lilac, red eyed ivory, lilac pearl and copper using various combination colours (although copper is a four combination colour, so not likely to suddenly appear being cream x rust x cinnamon x umbrous)

Well, EVERYONE seems to like Cinnies! Beautiful colour, easy to sell and so on, not difficult to breed and in combo can make more interesting colours!
For the Greys... Dark Greys are just difficult to get hold of, not the easiest to breed and not that easy to find outcrosses for!
Silver Greys, the best ones i've had were from Towy or Bourne Valley, not seen that many other people with them unless they were bred by Towy or BV.
Light Greys... meh, i dont like them that much Personality wise, our male is gorgeous, he was a lovely creamy grey when he was young but now he is so creamy he is almost a really greyish dingy brown. It depends what you want to do with Light Greys, if you broduce both Cinnies AND Light Greys, then you could always have Blondes.

Im really annoyed, my nice litter of Yellows will only be 3.5 weeks by Blenheim, my timing was rubbish! You'd adore them!

i'd suggest cinnies. The greys i think are more for an experienced breeder. i'd try a few years of robust colours first. Goldens are a bit boring because you could do with just going golden x golden etc. maybe with some black in there.
Cinnie gives you the most options. i wanted to go this route myself with Harvey and get some cinnies, REC, mink etc. as they are very popular. I'd always think about what will sell, as you can end up with 20 hams! cinnie, cream, sable etc. are very popular with the puplic

Depends on how nice your Cinny is as to how well it does they will have to go into the AOC class which puts them up against stronger colours! However Tango got a 1st so there you go!
Oooh, I have a pregnant Cinni, Fanta is pregnant to Dante my yellow male, however Fanta *is* a petshop female so the babies might not be show quality, we'll see!
