zzz best hamster bedding zzz

Hi all

I am new! I recently got a 13 week old Syrian hamster and I'm wondering what bedding you guys can recommend? I am UK based and avoided cotton wool bedding due to the dangers, is there anything else people use to keep their hamsters warm and happy?

We use ripped up tissues most of the time, and er... "curl-up pet bedding" which is long papery strips.

Most use ripped up toilet paper and anything paper-based will be great

I use the paper based beddings from P@H normally so either the shredded paper strips of the paper shells. Either that or the safebed flakes from a local shop that has a small pet section

Thanks both, went out and got paper based bedding and Basil seems quite happy.

Can I ask at what time your hamsters wake and go to sleep?
Basil seems to be up at the same time as me, not as nocturnal as I thought x

Er... We have twelve hams and all are on different sleeping patterns lol, said sleeping patterns also change occasionally.

At the moment Boo is up about 2pm most days for a while, occasionally going through part of the afternoon, then she gets up again when she feels like it during the night. Whizz and Fwirl get up around 11pm-1am ish. Scamp and Muffin get up when we've gone to bed. Nut gets up when its time to be fed. Dusty, Bump, Peep, Ghost, Geiger and Pollyanna all just get up as and when they feel like and are pretty much completely unpredictable.
