Meet Gizmo

I'd like to introduce you all to both myself (I'm pretty new on here) and Gizmo, my new little male Syrian hamster (my first for about 10 years). He's about 2 months old and I've only had him a few days, he's already spoilt rotten......but then whats the point in having a pet if you're not going to spoil them.

So far taming is going well, he is taking food from me and walking onto the palm of my hand. He seems nervous but very curious.

At the moment we are awaiting the arrival of his new home, a Savic Hamster Heaven. He's currently in a tank but I've noticed he's far more interested in running about, he's never off his flying saucer, and climbing (he's not interested in using the ramp up to the second floor, he prefers a good pull up) than he is with chewing, once his Hamster Heaven arrives he can climb to his hearts content. I'm hoping to connect the Savic up to his other tank cages to give him somewhere warm to go and snuggle when he's chilly.

I'm hoping I've managed to load pictures of him on here successfully, it would just be selfish to keep him extreme cuteness to myself.

I hope you think he is as scrummy as I do.

Thank you so much for your comments, he is such a little darling. I broke the news to my OH this morning that we were getting the new cage as an addition to his other tanks, he took it rather well.

I know the pictures I have put up aren't particularly clear (I'm hoping to post some more soon) but does anyone know what colour he is officially?

Hi, welcome to the forum, Polo! (I have a cat named Polo, so I feel a bit awkward saying this )
and Gizmo is just too cute, I love that first photo, I'm sorry I'm never able to tell about coloring. Hopefully someone else will be able to tell

Thank you StuCil. Polo was the name of my last hamster (and the one I had the strongest bond with - I joined the forum before I got Gizmo). I've had him out for a cuddle tonight, he sat very nicely in my arms. I had a look at his fur and the colouring is darker towards his skin than the tips of the hairs, does this mean he is an agouti?
