He looks to be a lovely handsome short haired Golden One of my favourite colours.
He is a little baby just now so remember lots of peace and quiet and gentle talking while he settles down. Stick with his mix till he is settled too and gradually introduce teeny bits of veg after a week or so of settling.
He will likely be a bit skitty till he gets tame but talk quietly and be calm and gentle and he will soon come round.
He is gorgeous

Aw isn't he a sweetheart! It's possible that I'm mistaken here, but couldn't he also be a Golden Umbrous? This would give his golden coat an overall darker appearance because it adds a "sooty layer" from the black or dark grey tipping of the hairs. Have a look at his cheek crescents and belly; in a standard Golden these will be a pale ivory white. If he's also carrying the Umbrous gene however, they will be more of a light grey.
Perhaps you would care to share som more pictures with us?

I did consider that lemon but you can see he had the pale belly and crescents coming up his cheeks and an Umbrous would have these much darker and greyer than that.
Is his coat very shiny? Satin makes the coat look darker so maybe we could see some more pics when he is settled?

Yeah Souffle you're probably right. I just thought he looked a little darker than regular for Golden hammies But then again the picture is a bit dark. And like you said, Satin could explain that too. Hmm.. Would still be interesting to see a belly-pic though, just to rule it out.
I notice I'm becoming quite the genetics and colouring enthusiast here. I really do find this SO intriguing!
