Try not to be too disheartened, coming to a new home and everything is so so stressful for a hammie and even the tamest hamsters bite sometimes
Fudge bit me a couple of weeks ago and she's completely tame.
Keep trying and keep persevering with it, she'll get there

Maybe try letting your hammie get more used to your smell, i used the technique of just putting my hand in and lightly stroking them and putting my hand out flat and letting the hammie smell your hand, as said above make sure your hands have no food smell on them ect. I let my hammie have a nibble without moving my hand so that it knows im not food.

This worked with a few of my hammies but there all dwarfs, but im guessing it wont make any difference.

I'm trying to get her out every night. But this week I've been back to work and having to get up earlier for work than before and gettin home later. I've just not had the energy myself. Lol.
She did let me pick her up for few seconds long enough for me to put her in her cage.
But then she just bit my boyfriend. Lol.

Haha if she's biting when touched, used something long like a soft toothbrush or something to stroke her until she gets used to it

Thank you, that's a great idea. I'll buy a babies tooth brush.

That toothbrush is a good idea =3 Try not to be disheartened Char. Every ham is different, but Diasy will come round eventually.

Aside from all the suggestions already put in, I'd recommend setting up a hot water bottle or a pocket hand warmer and put a towel over it, then let Daisy run on that, the warm may calm her down, also, while a wide open space is good, it's less fun if there's nothing to do but run around! If you continue to put her in the bath, put some toys in there as well.

It might be best though to let her simmer for a little while in her cage. She may be more territorial when in it but hopefully with the combination of a natural, consistent smell from you (using the same soap all the time for example) she may get used to you and not see you as a threat. Another trick is to make your hands smell of her bedding by rummaging in it with your fingers, that way she'll sniff you and think you're a part of her home rather than an intruder. =3

For now I recommend not picking her up at all. I learned this trick fast with Timi; he's not at all fond of being scooped, so I had to find a workaround to make him more comfortable with being handled. We got there in the end, but being handled is very stressful for them at first. Just don't be put off, stay calm and upbeat (because your emotions will rub off on her) and take your time. ^^

Remember to make all of your movements very slowly at first.

Penn, thank you for all your help. I'll keep updated on here, on how it goes.
She has toys in the bath, a bed, tubes, puzzle playhouse and sand bath, which she loves. I'll have to try hot water bottle but will have to buy one.
We use the same soap all the time, as my boyfriend only likes this one.
Can't wait to be able to pick her up. She is a sweet little thing.
Had us laughing as she trying to get her gnaw stick up the tube, but it won't fit. Bless her.
She likes my boyfriend blowing gently on her. So funny.

Think I've worn her out now, she has gone to bed now.
Ooh we changed her tubes around and that confused her.
We have nicked named her "Crazy Daisy" lol

I'm having exactly the same problem with my hamster- she always bites my hand if it's presented to her, even if there is food on the centre. She takes food from my fingers like an angel, but not when my hand is flat and there for the biting.

I actually transferred her from her cage into the bath via her ball, and put a towel over my feet (I do NOT want my toes being bitten!!- and it also served as a great way for her to clamber over me and not get freaked out that it was actually me).
I sat in the bath with her, and left her ball in there with us just so she had a 'safe place' to scurry back into if she felt threatened.

She seems to like that, but no progress on the hand biting- so I feel for you!!

It may be worth getting in? I thought mine would bite my legs, but she just sniffs and walks around, so your may do the same?
