Ah, we've had another breakthrough! My husband picked up her rope "T" tube and sat it on the sofa with us while we were watching t.v. tonight. She eventually came out, climbed around on the blanket and our still hands, and took a sunflower seed from my fingers, not my flat hand!

Thanks, everyone, for the nice comments!
Carmelita sure is cute. Somehow she is CLEARLY "my husband's" ham. I mean, she seems to clearly prefer him over me at this point. She can probably tell that I want her to love me, and is playing hard-to-get.
We had another nice rope-tube-on-the-couch movie session last night, and she took seeds from each of us, and then climbed right up my blanket and touched my face and glasses.

It's wonderful for making her feel safe and cozy while letting me feel like I am "holding her."
Oh, my Mom arrived last night and the first thing she said was, "Is the little one awake?" We fed Carmelita a few oats, and then I picked her up and she walked back and forth across our laps... and she let my Mom pick her up with no fuss! It was charming to see her be so good and calm for her Grandma! I'm so glad my Mom is an "animal person."
