I love Honey and Creams - do you have any photos?

Where did you get Rosie from? The NHC site says Rust is quite a rare colour.

Yes, I've researched Rosie's colour with the help of Lorraine and Roseann from Petwebsite. She's a rescue, I've had her for a year and she's coming up to her second birthday. Her colouring is a rich rust colour, she has very dark grey ears too. We wondered if she's park rust and part cinnamon. Whatever she is she's a very pretty ham. I'm off to the vets with her tomorrow, her breathing seems fast and she's drinking alot of water, I need to rule out an infection.

I'll post some pics of all my furballs very soon.

Oh no, I hope it's not too serious. Let us know how it goes. It might be an idea to check her urine too.

What colour are her cheek flashes?

Default Cream based colours

I have noticed that but I had no problems finding Rust around here which is strange and it seems quite common in the USA too from the people I have chatted to there. Maybe some have the colour wrong, I don't know

My favourites are the cream based hamsters - Sable and Mink in particular, and especially in long hair, although I also love seeing the effects of Yellow on different colours (tortishell) and the prettiness of the Dominant Spot pattern on most colours but especially the Selfs. Agouti means the hamster has three distinct shades of colour along each hair, dark cheek flashes and crescents, also known as the "wild type". Self fur is the same colour from roots to ends. Some Self hamsters, such as Minks, Sables and Yellow Blacks, have hair with two bands, but this shouldn't be confused with Agouti. It is essentially Self fur with tipping.

I prefer the sables. Currently, as some of you know, I have three hams, but only two are sable:

My black and white dominant spot, Tyr

My sweetie Clover, who is an extra large (plus sized) banded sable

And my wild child Coriander, who is also a banded sable, long haired

Default Plus sized hamsters

Tyr looks bigger but that is probably just the picture

He is a beauty (I am assuming here from the name. For some reason I link Tyr with male, and as it is a front on picture and I cannot see any "male equipment" or pom poms as lovely Sunny from PWS would say) Apologies if Tyr is a lady hamster

Yep, Tyr is a male, however feminine he may pretend to be. My oldest daughter named him after the mythological God of War.

I didn't realize how large that picture was - sorry about that! He is actually that smallest of the three - he did not thrive very well, but is healthy none the less. I think he ended up in the store because he was so small to begin with, and his markings aren't that great, but he jsut caught our eye that day.

Default Tyr the amazing shrinking hamster

Wow what happened he shrunk

Some of the prettiest hamsters can also be the nastiest - he sounds adorable and lucky to have found you

I like the little white line down his forehead

I made the image smaller - the giant size just didn't suit him! The white flash is actually supposed to be a characteristic trait of the dominant spot hams.

Also, any suggestions on fattening him up would be greatly appreciated - I worry about him because he is so small. We have tried just about everything from lab blocks, to extra treats. He is really only about 4 and a half inches, and lean. The other two are COWS compared to Tyr!

I don't know what order you would put it in but my hammy is a male Syrain, long-haired,Sable.He is a grayish-brownish color. It just depends on how much light is on him and at which angle.
