Hi I'm sure that there are lots of Pictures of Barney cages on the Lets See Your Cages thread. You can also look at cages like the Alexander cage since I'm pretty sure they're similar sizes You could also check on Google Images and for cage yours on YouTube, there are LOADS of really good cage tours on YouTube

Re: Barney Set Ups
This is my current setup. I'm still experimenting though. My hamster seems content with the cage size (never chewed on bars or demonstrated any desire to escape at all). However, my hamster is also very shy and timid, so I would like to find a layout that would allow him to feel more at ease. He is quite peculiar though He likes his big wooden house that came with the cage. He adores his wheel - he runs in it, snacks there and takes naps there in between running. He also likes to dig around and roll in his corner sand tray. But he doesn't demonstrate any interest in anything else I put in his cage (any chews, hideaways, tunnels, sputniks (both hamster and rat-sized), hanging toys, DIY puzzle toys). I keep on trying though

Re: Barney Set Ups
That's a great set up Astrid - loads to do in there
I haven't got good pictures of my set ups really, but here are two. The first was the original set up for our last Syrian and the second picture is current set up for our latest Syrian. My Barney cage has different coloured bars so looks a bit different.

Re: Barney Set Ups
It looks great Serendipity! What is the green material that you have used for insulation in the second picture?

Re: Barney Set Ups
That is hemp mat I got from Zooplus. It's beigy brown -probably looks green because it's next to the green shelf It comes in a huge piece of mat and you can cut it to size. I first put a circle of it inside the rat sputnik for our last hammy to make it a bit cosier in winter and he loved it. I put it round the bars in the cage for our current hammy when he was a baby so he didn't feel too exposed and it just got left there. I guess it does provide a bit of insulation too! It's supposed to safe if chewed - haven't had problems with it being chewed anyway but it does start shedding after a while and looking tatty. But the piece you buy is so big it's easy to replace a small piece now and then. It's not really necessary.

Re: Barney Set Ups
Pippin's cage needed a clean out (it's been over a month since the last full clean), I took this chance to try a new layout as well. So that there is more to do in his cage and more places to hide. Hopefully, that will help him feel less exposed. Once back in the cage, he explored for a bit and went to sleep into his new two-room house, so I am not sure about his reaction to the new layout yet. The last picture is of Pippin being a bit hesitant to go back in
