Unhappy dead hamster

hi everyone,
my hamster Gowler died this morning. When I first found him he had blood around his eyes, was weak and shaky, and made clicking sounds when he breathed. Now that he's dead, i found blood around his nose. Does anyone know what might have happend?
thanks

Very sorry for your loss Of Gowler,

How old was your ham?

Very often we don't know what they die of.

I'm sorry for your loss Wolfie. It is not uncommon for a hamster that is taking it's steps to the bridge to show some discharge from the nose that can look a bit blood stained. It is really just the organs shutting down and being unable to move the blood around the body. I'm sure they suffer no pain from this as they are ready to fly free at this point.
Play well Gowler x

Sorry to hear that,
I don't know what it is but i've heard that when their heart goes they sometimes haemorrhage i.e. blood coming out of the nose.
The clicking whilst breathing is known as death rattle and unfortunately does mean we're losing them
