Finally, we've completed the refurbishment - so our next hamsters will be put on the shelf
My husband built this cage from an IKEA Gorm shelf (I guess it's called Gorm in the UK too?), using acrylic glass as flooring, boards to go round and wire (it's aviary wire in German - is there an English word for it?) for the sides, back and doors.
Since the mice have shredded a good part of the corners, I had to clean it very thoroughly and give it another two coatings with varnish. Dirk made the new doors (there was no need for doors for the mice) and - lo and behold - we managed to complete it the other day
Next week the new hamsters can move in - I've already found a shelter in the area where they have hamsters at the moment. I'm all happy and hope Dirk will allow for two hamsters to move in...
Now here's the pictures (still empty, of course). The size is app. 60'' in width and 19'' in depth, the boards are app. 8'' high to allow for at least 6'' of bedding.
