Default Falco 100

My naughty gerbils have destroyed the hinge of their Marrakesh. I can replace the hinge, but I know it will happen again, so I want to move them to a cage without any plastic parts. I will probably get the Falco 80, but I know they'd appreciate the extra space of the 100.

Does anyone know if the Falco 100 is still available to buy anywhere in the UK? I know Zooplus don't sell it anymore. I would also appreciate any other suggestions for a new cage.

I have noticed Zooplus don't sell it any more and I don't know anywhere else that sells it. It is ideal for gerbils as well. I suspect it isn't made any more. You can sometimes find second hand ones on ebay or gumtree.

There are other glass tank options but I don't know any that have a cage top like that, apart from much smaller ones. The 75cm one might be ok.

I have seen the "jumbo" sized one of these recommended for gerbils. It's 70 x 40 to slightly smaller floor area than the 75cm Falco but it is quite tall at 50cm and has the shelves.

I've also seen the Eco Habitat set up nicely for gerbils. It does have wood corners but people have put metal corner pieces inside the wood corners to protect them.

Thanks for the link to that tank, I didn't realise those were still available to buy. They are great for gerbils. I think if I decide to get a new cage, that will be the one I choose.

I love the Eco Habitat, it will be one I consider when I'm able to get a Syrian hamster, but it has 2cm ventilation slats at the top and gerbils will squeeze through them when the bedding is high enough.

It is very easy to mesh the lid of the Eco Habitat. If you are in the UK The Range sells panels of 6mm x 6mm mesh for quite cheap https://www.therange.co.uk/garden/se...-steel/#159833

You would need a stapler, and some wire cutters too. It's pretty simple to mesh though.

I also think the lid of the Eco habitat needs meshing. Best meshed on the inside - if meshed on the outside they could get trapped under the mesh if they squeeze through the slots. When I was looking at that cage I even wondered about just making a simple mesh lid with a wood frame instead of meshing the lid.

Meshing the lid sounds like a good idea. Thanks.
