Mice Cages?!? Please help!
Hello! Ive been having a lot of trouble lately finding the right cage for mice. I’m looking to get some around January/ February, but all the cages I’ve found don’t work, or won’t ship to where I am. For example, I was really looking forward to trying out the “Fun Leon Small Pet Home” from zooplus, and it was such a bummer when I found out if didn’t ship to where I lived. I went looking further but couldn’t find anything. All I found were multilevel rat cages with wired floors. The bar spacing were either too big or the grated floors just aren’t right. (I’m pretty sure grated floors aren’t good all around- Bumblefoot?). I was wondering if anyone knew good multilevel mouse cages where the levels are plastic and the cage ships to the US. I know a tank is an option, but It’s much harder to clip all their toys onto the mesh top than on a cage with bars. Thanks!

Re: Mice Cages?!? Please help!
Hello Oobee35. Are you planning on keeping female mice or males? I would advise three or four females if you are looking to have a small group. Male mice are notorious for fighting and usually end up separated after one has been badly attacked or bullied, but if you keep a single male, he will require more human attention but not too much handling, just assurances allowed to walk onto your arm. Single males can become very tame but patience is always the key with all mice.
If your in the US, I`m not familiar with the cages available over there, but don`t overlook the Zoozone 1 Perspex tank-style cages for mice even though they only have barred lids and the lid would require meshing to prevent escapes. There are other cages with much narrower bar spacing. I`m sure there was a cage called the Simba or Simbla? Can`t remember as it`s been a long time since I was looking at cages!
Mice are indeed good climbers but don`t necessarily require a lot of height in a cage. A one storey cage with a platform or hammocks etc....will be fine and even transforming a tank-style cage with a build in platform would work. Keep it as natural to the mice as possible. Their urine does smell, especially male mice, so spot cleaning is the best way to maintain their environment without using scented sprays or anything that could affect their breathing because mice (like rats) can suffer terribly from respiratory ailments.
Any barred cage with 1cm or less bar spacing is the way to go. Anything wider could cause problems. I wouldn`t spend money on a cage you may end up regretting because it looks nice but isn`t practical for the mice.
Look at what is available and come back here and ask opinion on them. Will be happy to help.

Re: Mice Cages?!? Please help!
Guinea Pig and rabbit cages are usually a good size for mice! Just mesh them with 1/4 of an inch hardware cloth and zipties and the cage will be perfect! Make sure to mesh it on the outside, so that the mice can't get to the sharp edges and be sure to mesh the door seperate so that it can still open! Plust, with the wires on the inside, you can still hang things easily! Often with those cages, the pan is deep enough for the amount of bedding they need too!
Bin cages are also a good option as well. Cheap, easy, and lightweight! 110 quarts is recommended for three female mice!
Mesh isn't good for mouse feet, their toes and tails get easily caught. You can cover it with fleece, but I find most mice usually chew right through, which can lead to a blockage. I'd just take them out and use wooden shelves, etsy sells them for chinchillas, and they screw onto the side of the cage!
