Default Thr Gals

Just thought I'd let the gals give you a twirl since they've just had a bath and look all shiny. Panthera is the one closest to the camera while Marge is the one behind. My slime babies.

Hee, HEE, HEEE!!! I just love these slimy, cute snails! They are absolutely gorgeous; I'm sure they are preparing for the Valentine's Day festivities so they can crawl right into all of our hearts, lol. They already have got mine - good job Panthera and Marge!!! I look forward to getting to know they little darlings and seeing more pics of them, too. Happy Pre-Valentine's Day to you all!!! Btw, what type of snails are they? They are just too cool!!! I wonder what my Eros would think of them. Knowing her, she would probably request that they join her in a few reconnaissance missions because they look extra sneaky, lol.

Both are giant African land snails. Panthera is a achatina immaculata Panthera. Marge is a archachatina marginata ovum.

They're currently about 3inches long tip to mantle of the shell. 6inches in the foot.

They're very sneaky, even managed to escape over summer. Had to peel Panthera off the living room wall. Hahaha

They sound absolutely marvelous and tons of fun, too! How long have you had them and are they difficult to care for? They sound so AWESOME!!!

I've had these for about 2 years, but I've kept inverts since I was a teenager.

They're very easy to look after and make fabulous pets. I keep them on a substrate of compost and coir, feed them a range of veggies and fruit and keep them warm and moist.

It is however illegal to have them as pets in the US as they have become a pest in many states.

Thanks for all that info. I'll enjoy these little darlings through your interesting thread though as I will never be able to have any of my own.

Wow, I could just imagine your expression after receiving that pic while you were at work! I suppose that Panthera wanted to demonstrate that she is a great escape artist just like hamsters, lol. I am so relieved that she was able to be caught and returned safe and sound to her lovely tank.

Luckily there is a reason they call it 'moving at a snails pace' so it was more an issue of peeling her off the wall than chasing her about. It was the second time she's tried to escape . Marge isn't quite as adventurous thankfully.

Lol, hopefully Panthera the Turbo Houdini snail won't give Marge any naughty ideas in the future. Then you would have a lovely time peeling them both off the wall. I'm glad that Panthera didn't make it up to the ceiling before you got home because that would make things a whole lot more difficult. Luckily, these gals do "move at a snails' pace or you would surely have a time of it!

The ceiling predicament is something we considered. There is now a rock on top of the tank lid.
