Make sure that the treats/chews are actually safe.A lot of commonly recommended treats(for example Purina,Pedigree, and even some high end brands)can be dangerous or at the very least incredibly unhealthy There are tons of ingredient loopholes that not many people know of,for example E&C approved antioxidants/preservatives which actually allows for BHA/BHT/ethoxyquin to be added(as it definitely is in the US,that I can guarantee!).Another thing that could get ignored would be digest, which is another term for biproducts. Not all biproducts are bad,but they're not created equally and when put under blanket terms there is no legal definition to prove that they're safe or not or from good sources(for example, roadkill or slaughterhouse waste is not uncommon with such unspecified ingredients).I also see animal fat a lot with various brands, and this is once again unspecified so you have no clue if it is safely sourced or not so the danger of unsafe sourcing is once again present I know that Greenies also have gelatin(boiled bones)in them which isn't good and they're quite well known for causing serious digestive upset in dogs, which isn't that surprising with the ingredients but it is still a risk for rats and other small creatures.

Oh I see I thought greenies were similar to whimzees so that's why I got them, thank you for letting me know! I feel like such a pet owner right now, is there anything else I'm feeding them that could be bad?

The markies and greenies are all that I can think of It does seem much harder to find high quality dog treats in the UK from what I'm seeing,as we have far more in the US and they're pretty much everywhere!

For some reason just because they're a dental chew people get the idea that Whimzees and Greenies are similar,so you're certainly not the only person to have thought that way.Don't feel bad,any pet owner is prone to mistakes at some point, and even I have made serious mistakes in the past(research does help a lot now, even if it hurts the brain immensely to learn so much all at once)

I have been using them for the hammy too but luckily not for long as I only got them when I got the rats so they've only had one each! I'll be sure to bin them, I'll go get some whimzees instead.

Lovely photos of Milo and Monty - they looks like they are getting more curious. Also it good that Leo is confident to climb onto your hand - it must be a little worrying about his poos not being normal - it might be due to the change of diet and possibly the greenies are different from whimzees - whimzees and antos dog chews are similar.

Well I've taken the greenies out of both the boy's and Peanut's cages, I'll leave Leo alone but will monitor his poo on Tuesday to see if there is a difference. Peanut has been passing her poo normally so I know the greenies haven't affected her (yet) I will still keep.a close eye on her too though.

I love the picture of Leo all flopped out When they're older and tamed down, do you plan on teaching them any tricks? I've seen many rats trained to do pretty awesome things!

Yes I will, but that part of owning rats is new to me however I have seemed to have accidentally taught them that when I make a clicky sound it means treats, so they all come running to the door when I make the noise 😂
