Rosie is losing weight quite quickly now, although she eats so much bless her
The way she walks is only getting worse, she's starting to get very wobbly... I know her time is almost up, yet she still tries to climb and move around like all the others and its so sad to watch her try so hard to keep up with everyone else.

I'm having to make some more adjustments to the cage so she can access food, water and hammocks more easily as she struggles a lot with getting in and out of the hammocks. I don't really know where to put them now as they are in the easiest places for her... Might have to remove all the hammocks and hopefully all the girls will sleep in the same house/sputnik as her to help keep her warm. I'm also putting scraps of fleece in the houses too to help with this.

Ebby has turned very destructive recently! She keeps breaking all the hammocks!! Not very happy with her... She rips them all up and drags it into a house that they don't even sleep in! WHYYY

I wonder if Ebby is reacting to Rosie's failing health? I know they are very smart, so is it at all likely that Ebby is anxious for Rosie?

Perhaps make a really big hammock like the size of a pillow case so older rats can get in easily x

Hm that is a possibility! I never thought of it that way before, but I know that many animals react when one of their friends/family member are injured or ill... They are all very close and Ebby is very often snuggled up to Rosie.

I'm thinking about trying to adjust the hammock height so the opening is just in line with the level rather than above it. See if that makes a difference for her, then there is no climbing involved/pulling herself up and into it. She'd just have to walk straight into it. If that doesnt work then i'll try and construct a large one for her

That is such a great photo that I have this mad urge to run out and buy a group of Dumbo rats right now! Look at that face. Rosie's beautiful.

Haha caught her just in time! She was looking up from that silver bowl of baby food. She gets additional foods due to her age, that the others don't get anywhere near as often! All the others were running around my room so I took that chance and gave her some baby food while everyone else was distracted She doesn't have enough energy to run around like the others do, she just waddles along bless her :')
