Your ratties are beautiful! I have ratties too and they are kind of addictive with such huge personalities. I have 9 boys at the moment, 7 of which are rescues. Maybe you could make a rule and say if you see a lone female needing a new home you could take her on? Lone rats are always an emergency to me as no rattie should have to live alone and you could give a great loving home

I had another look through your thread and I got all giddy at their expressions and beauty.

Been a while since I updated this thread!
So here we go...

Ebby!

All enjoying fresh veggies earlier on today

So somehow all 7 of them managed to all squeeze into one sputnik! Not sure how at all!

Erin trying to cope with the heat last week

Echo doing the same!

Update on Ebby:
Her lump has gotten very large recently, though she is coping, it is touching the bottom of the cage when she walks... Not sure what to do as I have no money to get it surgically removed...

Echo and Ebby are both slowing down with age (they are sisters) and is becoming clear that they are very old! They are two and a half now, but I wish they were as hyper as they both once were!

Sorry about Ebby and her lump developing.
Did you get the p@h job? Any staff discount with the vets4pets service they have by any chance? Or an instalment payment plan?

Aww love, love, love the pics, my heart melted at each one. So sorry Ebby's lump has developed more. Is there anything the vet can do for her?
So loved the pic of Erin - Aww!

Oh god, they're gorgeous! Especially wee Ebby <3 I was planning on getting rats myself, but then ended up rescuing a bunch of mice who have now taken up the rat cage space! Like little mini rats I guess lol... But a lot less fond of sitting still :P

Yay an update at long last!
With good photos!

So I gave the rats a cat bed the other day and they love it! I've attached it to the top of their cage so it hangs down like a massive hammock. It came with a cushion too which they just love.
Here is a pic of my oldest girl Ebby enjoying it!

Please ignore all her lumps, she has two but she is very nearly 3 years old so they are unable to be removed due to her age and the risk of her not waking up after anesthesia.

Here are some pics of the others enjoying snuggle time!

Elsie, Robyn and Roo (left to right!)

Here is Faye enjoying a snooze

Erin looking seriously comfy and content!

Now...
We have a new addition. This is Freya and she wasn't planned at all!
Here is her story:

We got her from a jolleeys petshop. This store didnt normally stock rats but had ordered her in for a customer. Who then decided she didnt want her… she’s been in the shop for over a month and hasn’t had any handling, company from other rats, or no space to climb, run or play. The tank was filthy and really needed cleaning out too.

I felt so sorry for her all alone and asked someone to let me see her. It was then when i started asking questions: why is she all alone? And then they told me her story.

I couldn’t leave her there. They don’t get customers for rats, hence why they never have rats in. She’d been there for over a month and no one had even asked about her. No one wanted her. So i had to have her. We even had to catch her ourselves because the staff were too scared of her. She’d run away from you and spin round when you went to pick her up, and squeak. But it was fear. Not aggression. They just didnt have a clue.

She’s now in the bottom half of my savic royal suite cage and is LOVING the space and toys. She is very skittish and does hide from me. But the minute i bought one of my other girls down and held her by the cage, she came running out! She craves playmates. Its so sad!! Soon i will begin introductions and soon she will hopefully come out of her shell a bit more :’)

Eek and lots of squeaks - blooming adorable pics of your rats in the cat bed, it fits perfectly and they're making great use of it.
Congratulations on Freya, she's so gorgeous. That really peeves me of when people change their mind and Don't give any thought to the animal or the petshop who ordered her in.
Freya's in excellent hands. She's got such a cute face which will have you spoiling her and deservedly so.

Thankyou!
She is a lovely girl and is so so curious, but at the moment nerves are getting the better of her. She'll come over to you, then realise what she's doing and run back to the back of the cage and hide behind something.
However!
I did pick her up today. She was wriggly but did settle for a little bit snuggled in between my arm and hoodie! After that she even took a treat off of me! I'm really happy with her progress and its been such a short time already. She's proving to be a real sweetie, just need to start introductions asap! Hopefully on Wednesday when I don't have work so I have all day free to supervise them

Freya loves her box. I kept the box in the cage that I bought her home in. She's a real sweetheart and is getting braver!
I just can't wait til she has friends! Her confidence will only improve faster!

That blanket wasn't in there originally. I did put it in one of her hides, but no, she reorganized the cage during the night and by morning, the blanket was very neatly placed in her box!
