Default I got him! New rabbit!

Some of you may have been following my other two threads around this forum about this rabbit, and now I finally got him!

He is absolutely beautiful and I'm so so happy I have him. He's so loving and amazing to hold and cuddle. He's very laid back and loves his food!

The lady I got him from kept him in a very small cage, outside, with no shelter from the cold wet windy weather. He had no hay, an empty algae stained waterbottle and a very small and empty foodbowl. No enrichment, no room to run around and no place to hide if he got frightened.

Now he is currently being housed in a 120cm indoor cage, with plenty of room to run around my room when I get him out. He'll have hay available to him 24/7 and fresh clean water. He loves broccoli and loves his pelleted food that he is on now, he prefers it to the old stuff he was on in the past! He has enrichment: a hanging hay ring, a hanging chew treat, a seagrass ball (which he loves) and a wooden ledge to hide under (which he also loves)!

So far he's settling in so well and I think he likes it here! After exploring the cage he did the little bunny roll/flop that they do when they are comfortable, happy and content! Happy bunny, happy new owner!

Yay! I was really worried how that saga was going to end. So happy for both of you!

So was I!
I forgot to mention above, but I have noticed that he has a very slight weepy eye and very slight snuffle noises when he breathes. I'm keeping an eye on him for now and if it gets worse then he'll be off to the vets.
I'm hoping its just where he was kept outside in the cold with no cover over his cage and now hay or straw to keep him warm. Hoping that after he's been inside for a while (though him staying inside isn't permanent) it will clear up.

Aw, well done for giving him a lovely home hrl, he is just adorable. You probably already know about weepy eyes being a sign of tooth problems but if you do get a vet check, ask the vet to check his teeth right at the back. If he`s eating well that`s a good sign. Poor lad, you got him just in time for all those bangers going off so at least he`s indoors now where he won`t hear that. I hope everyone who keeps rabbits or piggies in sheds or garages or in the garden knows to get them in and keep a radio on and a dim light during the evenings when fireworks are going off. It`s never just the one night either as squibs can be heard well into the weekend and beyond, so take care. x

Thanks
Yeah I have heard about weepy eyes being a sign of tooth problems. He is eating fine (such a pig!) so i'm hoping its nothing serious. He'll be monitored closely though, just in case.
I'm glad I got him before the worst of the fireworks! The old owners house is located right nextdoor to a feild and park area. It gets used for fireworks a lot this time of year (especially as its right next to multiple housing estates...)

I need name ideas!
Quite liking Monty or Harley at the moment...

This is his current cage setup, its only temporary, eventually he'll be moved outside into a 6ft hutch with room for even more enrichment and room to run around! But this is a huge improvement to what he was living in previously.

He's completely trashed the cage as you can see! He's made himself at home and right now he's lying down in the hay :')

Aww he is so beautiful! I used to have a lop that looked just like that, though she was 1/4 rex and her seal point colouring came from that side of her family. Her dad was like a siamese cat in colour, so lovely.

Like racinghamster said I do think you should get those teeth checked out at a vet - if he didn't have any hay he could well have dental issues as you know. I had a rabbit with a weepy eye and he had a huge abscess. It makes the eye weep because it pushes on the tear duct. Having been learning all about small animal dentistry at uni this last week I wouldn't chance leaving it if I'm honest!

I like Monty as a name
