I am not a happy camper.
I was supposed to go to my sister's 2 weekends past, but my sister had to cancel the first weekend. Then, my nephew got hurt (Not seriously) and he couldn't play football. So, it looks like it will be another week or so before I can go hammy hunting. That was bad enough as I am missing my small fluffs. I actually had to take Ted E. Bear's photo off my computer desktop as it was depressing me.
The real heartbreaker is that my beautiful Yang, the cat who was always first to come running in the morning when I go out in the yard has disappeared since last Thursday. Now I am really glad Yin and Yang brought Yen home. Yen is a real comfort to Yin, who was very attached to his brother, Yang. Yoda keeps looking for him too. It's bothering me so much that I don't know what happened to him. Since the boys are half feral, and get very stressed if I get too close to them, I couldn't keep them in the house. I was able to allow them to come in and out while the door to the yard is open, but they didn't like it if I closed the door. *sigh*
Anyway, I've started having Yin and Yen come into the kitchen to eat at least once a day and they have been wandering into the living room. Yen found the catnip toys and loves them. I am trying to get them used to the house again in case it gets really cold. I want them to have the option of coming in if they need to, especially if it snows.
My poor beautiful Yang...my big boy. It just kills me.

Oh no, I'm so sorry DrK I hope that Yang is alright and is just off on an extended ramble!
Hugs to you in your time of loss as well. It's heartbreaking to lose our loved ones, I really hope you can find a lovely small furry to help patch you up x

Re: I am not a happy camper.
I'm sorry Dr Mck, was he an entire male? They do wander unfortunately. However, I'd suggest looking for him. I had a feral out door cat who would get stuck in garden sheds. I had another, in the States, who would get locked in garages. Ever curious they go places and being feral, are too afraid to ask to get out. Put out some notices in the neighbourhood and maybe knock on a few doors. I've done all this and-- I would send the neighbourhood kids out to check sheds. My success rate is 100 percent, touch wood, but all my cats were fixed (trapped and released when necessary). Good luck, I am sorry and hope he comes back.
That's great the others are starting to come in. xx

I'm sorry to hear you're having a difficult time. I really hope handsome Yang wanders home soon with some interesting tales to tell. I'm glad the other two and Yoda are looking after you x

Re: I am not a happy camper.
Come home Yang!! All of our cats have wandered off for extended periods and come back, he might very well turn up tomorrow or a week from now, or a month! Never give up hope he's found another warm kitchen or maybe someone has nabbed him and taken him to a shelter.
But still, Yang... Get your furry butt home!!!

Re: I am not a happy camper.
Hi DrKMck - really sorry to read about Yang, I really hope that he comes home soon and in the meantime, I hope that the others enjoy being inside and give you and Yoda some additional company.
As I mentioned in the Photo of the month thread, you have been in my thoughts as I assumed you were already on your trip. It's such a difficult time, perhaps the extra time before you make it to the shelter will be useful for them to take in the perfect fluffs for you and they will be waiting patiently for you to arrive...at least two dwarf hams among them.
Sending hugs from the girls and I, a beak rub from Henry and love from us all. xx

Re: I am not a happy camper.
Oh no, puddy cats are such a worry when they wander. I've got a cat who comes to feed here sometimes but he feeds at lots of different homes so I don't worry when i dont' see him for a while. I do hope your boy turns up again soon. Let us know.... I hope the others get brave enough to come in properly when it's cold outside. I get sad to see feral cats, they look lonely sometimes but they really dont' like being shut in do they. Mine gets in a panic and because he used to be someone's pet, he knows to ask me and he turns his huge eyes in my direction and begs to be let out, he is so expressive! He is happy enough to sit by you and be stroked while he is eating if the door is open or if I feed him outside but the minute the door closes it's a different story. Poor little guys. You are kind to put them up.

So sorry to hear that. That's the only bad thing about having a lot of pets is when you have to say goodbye.

Re: I am not a happy camper.
So sorry that yang hasn't come to see you for a while, I know the feeling, It's so worrying and heartbreaking. Cats do tend to wander off, especially toms. My cats have been out for a week before but they came back. As he's slightly a stray he could just be at someone's house snuggled up in the warmth. Cats tend to go to other people's houses quite a lot. Maybe someone has been able to take him in
My cat puzzle has been missing for 3 years, we never found him but we think he's comforting some old lady somewhere. There's always the doubts and I'm not saying it wasn't hard, because it was the hardest thing to come to terms with in my life. He was my best friend, out of the 6 cats I have now, always came to give me cuddles. He was a lovely cat and I can see why someone would want to take him in. A lot of people will take a cat in that hasn't been chipped or hasn't got a collar.
I really hope you'll see him again, It's only been a week so I wouldn't worry too much. -Hugs- x
