DEFINITELY!
But only if you can afford them, have the space and have the time for them. They are prone to tumors and Upper Respiratory Infections (URIs) and vet bills are expensive! They take up a lot more of your time than other small animals such as hamsters and gerbils too, as they require atleast 1 hour out of their cage per day. They need large cages with a lot of enrichment and rats must live with atleast one other rat as they need company!
I couldn't live without my girlies! They are so so loving and super intellegent! They can learn their names and be taught tricks-much like dogs!

Re: Meet my little zoo!
For me it was Rats vs Hamsters, and I finally chose hamsters because they are a bit less expensive. My mum had rats growing up so she wanted me to get some, but I convinced her on getting a hammy instead. I'm glad I did as I cannot image a life without Tori.

Re: Meet my little zoo!
Some news regarding Rosie, my eldest rattie
Her back legs are getting weaker due to her age (hind end degeneration) and she is finding climbing, both up and down the cage, and up and down ladders, very difficult. I have adapted the cage to suit her, but she is not finding it easy. She walks very flat footed and doesn't have as much balance anymore. Her time is coming to an end
I came back from my holiday to find that she'd lost a lot of weight. I can feel her vertebrae in her spine when I touch her, though she still can eat and drink on her own, its just not enough.
She still looks a happy girl and is coping fine, but I know that her time is coming to an end and i'm no where near ready to let her go

Also, can someone please tell me what the photo of Lilly has come up with on the first page? I just went on it and its certainly not her! Showing up as 3 footballers or something??? It should be a guinea pig!

Re: Meet my little zoo!
I've seen that happen once before with a photo in someone else's thread, it went back to what it should have been after a short while but I have no idea how it's happening!
