I think hamster and mice are most suited to a cage like that, definetly not a hedgehog or gerbil, just make sure the measurements are large enough for a hamster and you'll be fine.

sugar gliders like to climb and need a big bird cage, hedgehogs are very, very active at night and need huge one-floor cages (mine are about 60 inch long and 23 inch deep and that's a minimum...) And both species are not for beginners and you need a lot f information before having them. They're both exotics and not even close to caring for hamsters.

Both are nucturnal and don't have the moments like hamsters where they're awake during daytime (not at all, unless they're weak, sick or really hungry). if they will be awake during daytime, you better start worrying and hurry to the closest vet. Deff not appropriate in such cages and not to be held by beginning rodent/exotics keepers.

I'm sorry if i sound angry or anything, i don't mean it that way. But there are so many people keeping these animals without even bother to read what they really neeed

I agree Cangshu. It`s not a case of saying, `what else can live in this cage`. A hamster cage that is too small isn`t even suitable for mice, so reaching the pet before the cage/enclosure is probably the best way to go about finding out about different species. Habitat and husbandry are paramount above all else. x
