My little prince has now been home 2.5 weeks and is doing well. I'm so impressed with how he's handled all the changes. He's still a little nervous, but he's gone from being a house dog in a pack of chihuahuas to being an only dog in a houseful of rodents and going out to all sorts of new places.

He's started playing which is lovely to see. His favourite toy is his monkey which needs a lot of telling off!

He now has so many toys I've ordered a toy box so I don't fall over them all the time.

He's been in day care while I was back at work this week and has had good reports. He's a tired chap after his busy days!

Rogue has four coats, but refuses to move in the two that keep his chest warm! He now has two of the same style but one blue and one yellow.

He loves his food so sometimes I hide his dinner in a puzzle toy to stop him guzzling it down so fast.

Rogue even attended his first hamster show at Chacombe. He stayed outside the hall so he wasn't overwhelmed and he did so much better than I expected. He loved his muddy walk in the nearby fields - he may be a lapdog but he loves to get mucky!

LOL they may be little, but don't tell them that! Sounds like he's enjoying his new environment immensely

So great to hear about Rogue's progress, judging by the recent pics he's settling in really well.

He looks wonderful! I have this great dog toy box with all dogs on it in a tapestry. It was actually bought for my Labrador, Lady. So, Yoda has to wait for me to get the toys out, he's too little; Lady used to take whatever she wanted. Yoda also loves the yard and these little ones can dig with the best of them. I'm glad he's settling in so nicely.

His toy box arrived on Friday and I'm no longer falling over dog toys all the time!

Rogue spent yesterday with me at the Bath show. He had his car crate to retreat into if he needed and we went out for a nice walk during the busiest bit, but he did better than I expected and coped well with the experience. It's lovely to take him places where people allow him to explore and get used to herds of people without being pounced on. He even took liver cake from a few people He liked 'his' trophy for being a good boy at the show:

I've tried explaining it was Ningwood's Best in Show trophy, but he's not convinced!

And a bonus pic of HRH from Valentine's Day:

Mostly he only plays with two toys, but it's nice to have a few spare!

His training is progressing well. We went to our first dog training class this week where he showed off his skills with 'down' - and since he saw the other dogs doing 'sit' he's come on in leaps and bounds.

So far the commands he knows well are 'in' (to go into the living room), 'cross' (cross the road), 'leave it' and 'down'. Commands that need a little work, especially in places with distraction, are 'sit', 'wait' (at kerbs - he was good at this but has slipped recently), 'come', 'watch' (to get his attention) and 'off' (cheeky monkey likes the sofa even when not invited!). His newest command is 'dance'. The trainer wants each dog to learn a trick outside of the classes and since he hops on his hind legs when dinner arrives, I thought that could be his trick. We're working on doing it to command and not just for dinner!

I'm really looking forward to class on Wednesday. Here's hoping he feels brave enough to show off what he's learned and not hide under a chair all night!

He is doing really well and looking great. It takes much longer to train an older dog especially one who has done as he pleases all his life so far but if you are calm and consistent then he will get there
