Re: Rogue - a long time in the waiting!
LOLOL. I love the sleeping shot! I just recently downloaded a photo that this little one reminds me of. Check it out below. So now, HC has our own "Tired...Just Tired" doggie. Vectis, you are going to have so much fun with this wee one. I always had big dogs until Yoda. But these guys...they don't know they are small. They truly believe they are mighty warriors and are great little watch dogs. I defy anyone to come near my house without me knowing about it. You will also laugh yourself silly over the things he'll do. They are just so much fun. They rarely walk...they bounce! They are very smart, but can be stubborn, so he'll need to know who really is the boss. I absolutely love Chihuahua eyes. And the Colt hams is just perfect. I'm forever calling Yoda my biggest hammy. Congratulations on getting your forever home Rogue. {paw pats} from Yoda!

Re: Rogue - a long time in the waiting!
I grew up with big dogs too, German Shepherds in fact, and I swore I would never have anything to do with small dogs. Then my mom brought home a poor naked little guy who needed help and despite his severe personality issues he ended up being a good friend and a lot of fun. He was smart as a whip and would do anything for a chickpea, but he never could be trusted around other dogs, especially big ones. I had to withdraw him from an agility class because not even the trainer could stop him from trying to kill the biggest dog in the class, a Great Pyrenees! DrKMcK is right, these guys don't know they're small
A funny little quirk he had was the people he chose to associate with. He loved his immediate family (us) but hated all people in what I'm going to call their middle years, roughly teens to 50's. Small children and the elderly he loved though. Go figure!

Re: Rogue - a long time in the waiting!
Rogue's nice and chilled inside - I've only heard him woof a couple of times in four days. He had a little woof at my neighbours coming in this evening which isn't something I want to encourage despite the lovely messages/comments from others in my building about him (I sent them little cards to say a) I have a dog now, b) let me know if there's a problem, c) the management company know and OKd it).
Outside he's rather worried about life. He's getting better slowly with cars, vans, people walking by, car travel. Today we had a nice quiet day just wandering around the close and playing in the building's hallway which he was finding a little scary with the echo from the stairs going up. Slow and steady progress. We'll be visiting the petsitter next week to plan his day care needs when I'm back at work - they've suggested he go in for a little visit before a full day and if that's too much they could either do pop in visits or have one of their contractors stay with him in my home (I love my petsitters!)

Re: Rogue - a long time in the waiting!
He's a short haired Chi, Vectis, so be prepared. They love to cuddle under blankets. I have 6 blankets that belong to Yoda. 2 are in his couch bed, 2 are in his Kitchen bed and 2 are on MY bed. The ones on my bed are ignored by his highness. He sleeps behind my knees at night. He's a furry hot water bottle, so I don't complain. LOL

Re: Rogue - a long time in the waiting!
Ah yes, the heat-seeking chihuahua. I'd almost forgotten. I remember the night I fell asleep on the sofa (big, overstuffed thing) and woke wondering where the dog was. Then I realized he was squashed behind me, stuffed between the giant cushions! I thought he was dead but he turned out to be just extra specially warm and sleepy

Re: Rogue - a long time in the waiting!
Heat-seeking is right! Someone got very grumpy going out in the cold yesterday night for a pre-bed constitutional outing (I'll give you a clue - it wasn't me, and all the rodents were tucked up in their nests). When we're inside he's either here:

or here...

I think he could get closer to the heater, but only with specialist tools!

Your heating bills are going to soar Vectis! Does he have a little coat or anything? I guess he feels the cold with being little more than big doggies!

LOL "only with specialist tools" I don't know about that, he looks like he's starting to ooze through the fins in that second picture

Re: Rogue - a long time in the waiting!
LOL. Those are the little fleece blankets I have too! They are perfectly Chihuahua sized. These are really dogs who need covering up in the cool and cold weather. I never thought it cute to dress dogs. But then, I always had the big ones. Chihuahua can get sick if they get too cold. Yoda hates booties, so, even though I bought a few pairs, i don't push it. However, he has a nice wardrobe.
