Neglected/abandoned dog
So I've got this friend. She has this wonderful black lab called smoky. Smoky is super intelligent and really fun. I moved away from next door to my friend 3 years ago. My friend asked if I could come over and I said yes. I went back to her house for the first time in 3 years. When I got there the house was all broken and abandoned. I went inside and I realized that she must have moved after I did. I hear this growling. I turn my head and I see 2 glowing eyes. I held out my hand and walked slowly toward it. The eyes vanished into the darkness. I went to grab a flashlight and came back. Once I saw the eyes I flashed the light onto them and saw at once that it was a dog. A pretty black lab with a gray muzzle. I knew at once that it was smoky. She looked awful. Her ribs jutted out from her fur and she was limping and holding up a paw that was bleeding heavily. Her teeth were rotten and broken. We took her to the vet and she had to have surgery and lost one eye. I talked to my friend again about it and we haven't spoken since. She had abandoned smoky for 3 years. I asked her why and there was no reason whatsoever.

Re: Neglected/abandoned dog
That is HORRIBLE!! And a crime, to do that to an animal. You know she can be held accountable for animal abuse/cruelty charges. So, you have the dog now?

Yes we do. Smoky is being well cared for here. Now we've got two sick labs to watch over. I'm never talking to that friend again

Re: Neglected/abandoned dog
I'm glad you have the poor dog.. The dogs lucky to have survived, 3 years on its own.. I wouldn't be friends with her anymore either. A phone call to a local animal rescue, if she didn't want the dog, or tried to place it with another family, would have been the humane thing to do..

Re: Neglected/abandoned dog
Actually in tears reading this!
What a cruel, evil human being!! If you was near me i'd have smoky. I know how much labs adore their owners and being left like that, Smoky must of been heartbroken and wondering why. Please report your so called 'friend' to the police or animal welfare. She or he shouldn't be allowed to do this ever again!! I'm glad i don't know this person or i think i would go and rip his or her head off.Grrrrrrrr
Sends lots of hugs Smoky's way. Get better soon, hope you find your happy forever home.

Re: Neglected/abandoned dog
I can't stand abuse towards animals!! A dog is mans best friend, after all.! This type of treatment to dogs, and other pets, is happening more and more, here in the states.. If laws where in place for appropriate punishment of such acts, perhaps people would think twice about doing such to innocent, defenseless animals. My blood boils knowing things like this happens..

Re: Neglected/abandoned dog
Ughhh, what a vile person! How can anyone abandon a dog and just forget about them. That poor, poor girl, surviving alone for three long years. The fact that she was still there in that house after all the time, she must have been so heartbroken and confused. There are few dogs more loyal and loving than labs. And to abuse that love... Its incomprehensible. What is wrong with some people?!
I agree, please report this so-called friend! I'm with ickle on this one, if this person was near me... I wouldn't hold back.
So glad she has you to look after her, perhaps it was fate that she was there waiting for you. She can learn again what love is. Give her a big hug from me xx

That poor baby. I'm so glad you have her. Are you keeping her? She needs a forever home with lots of love to make up for those sad 3 years she spent waiting for her owner to come back.

Re: Neglected/abandoned dog
This friend is a bit more than creepy if she has you come to her old abandoned house?? what was that about?
Or was she with you when you got there?
