"Friend" needs a good slap. And reporting to the police. I know I've only been here a month but I can't take all these stories of poor abused abandoned animals, it's really bad for my blood pressure, I get SO angry.

She wasn't there when I found smoky. After I talked to her she said she must have forgotten to tell me that she moved. She is such a vile person I had to restrain myself from punching her

Vile is a good word. People like that? I block their numbers and keep way clear.... Not sure what good reporting someone like that for animal abuse would do, though. Might keep them in your life even longer. Not that I'm against what others suggested....but...

Best to move on...at a safe distance.....

Bad news.

I went away from smoky's bed for a minute to get her water and when I came back she wasn't acting the same. We got her to the vet and one of her lungs is severely messed up and she might now make it through tonight

That poor dog. I had a pure bred Black Lab when I was very young. He was my very own first dog. The ones before were my parents dogs. I called him Shadow. His brother stayed with the Mama dog and he was named Smokey too. They were beautiful, loving dogs who were also great watchdogs, so loyal to the family. I fear for the human race when I hear of things like this. We are capable of so much good, and yet, so much harm. How do you walk away from an animal who depends on you for its existence? How was she raised that she sees this as okay? My mother used to say, "What goes around, comes around". Although I have spent my life helping others, I am not a very nice person when I hear of those who would hurt an animal or another human being. I truly hope this "comes around" for her. People who would do this have no true empathy for another living thing. I'll say this though. Animals, dogs especially, forgive far faster than we do. Love that dog. Feed and protect him, and you will have his heart and soul forever. {hugs} to you and {pet, pet, pet} to Smokey.

Smokey seems to be fighting hard and the vet is closed so we can't ease her pain at all. Her heart seems to be panting and she is breathing shallowly. She is absolutely covered in mites, ticks, fleas, and has worms. We all hope she pulls through the night

Twix and Oreo...Get some Frontline as soon as you can...it will immediately start killing off the vermin and it won't hurt her. I hope she makes it. Poor baby.

Poor baby-how is she? And how in the world did she survive in there for three whopping years? Toilet water and scraps I'm guessing?

Smoky update

Smoky just now seemed to realize that she was with people again and is now VERY hostile toward us. We are very lucky she survived the night. She has been growling and she has terror in her big innocent brown eyes. Smoky will be turning 15 tommorow. What an old dog. She might not recover from her injured lung
