Sick dog
My black lab, Percy, has recently gotten sick. She sleeps in her kennel and yesterday morning there was messy poop all over the kennel so she probably spent the night in her own poop. Poor dog. We gave her a bath and we put her in the bathroom with plenty of water and a warm bed but whenever we look in at her she is really dull. She is 3 years old and acts like she's 3 mos. now she is acting like a senior. Whenever she's sick I get paranoid because it's my fault that Percy's mom ( bailey, my best friend in the world ) got hit by a car so now I'm very protective of my Percy. Does anyone know of anything else I could do for her while she's sick

Re: Sick dog
I'm sorry to hear about your ill doggie. Could she have eaten something that didn't agree with her tummy? For diarrheal my vet said to feed our dogs, plain boiled chicken, with plain cooked rice. Not too much, at one time. The rice is suppose to help with the diarrhea.
Has she vomited? If she's not better I'd get her checked out by a vet.

Re: Sick dog
I would urge you to get her to the vet as soon as possible. She could have picked up any number of things which could have made her sick, but it could be a more sinister underlying problem. Messing all over her kennel and then just sleeping in it is not right. Are her gums pale? What are her eyes like? Has she vomited?
Poor pup, she doesn't sound well, and I would get her seen asap. Hope she's okay, and its just a bad tummy. Give her a hug from me xxx

Re: Sick dog
I agree, a vet check ASAP would be the best. One of my dogs got sick from eating a steak bone- she got intestinal inflammation, that needed to be treated with medications. This condition is very painful, as well. It could be an intestinal virus, so many things that could cause sickness and diarrhea. My vet for my dogs said, never let your dog eat " pork."
Please keep us posted.. On how she's doing.

Re: Sick dog
Twix - I'm very sorry that Percy is sick, I know how much you love her and miss her mom. I don't know a lot about dog illnesses except that we once nursed a german shephard through distemper. I know it's hard with a holiday weekend but I hope that you have a vet who can see her and I really hope she's feeling better soon.

Re: Sick dog
Teddy001: I don't think she has eaten anything bad. I don't underestimate her though because once she ate a whole chicken with bones and all
Munchalot: I know. I feel terrible for her sleeping in her own poop. She has vomited, her eyes are really dull, and her gums are normal.
Starshme: I hope we can find someone to see her as well. My sister is currently trying to find someone
