My stepdad's a farmer, and he uses the traps that break their neck. It was horrilbe, esp. as the first one he killed looked alot like my first chinese hamster

DrK, I hated it intensely and would definitely choose rescue over kill or bait traps any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Glue traps are, in my opinion, the absolute worst choice out there. I get really upset just thinking about them because there is nothing humane about them. The first mouse we ever rescued, we caught in a paper bag - don't ask me why we didn't try the wastebasket that it was lining, your way made much more sense.

In our case we had been away from the house for almost a year and a few chipmunks and mice had decided to come in to play. They chipmunks were easy to get out because, once they left, we just used steel wool to close up the hole we saw them go into. The mice were another story. They were tiny and SMART. In the end though, the rescue method didn't work.

Twix, maybe since your dad is already using a trap he might switch to the release type? Good luck.
