Pip is a very pretty piggy! Personally, I think guinea pigs are adorable and would love to have a pair of them. I'm still very early in the research stage, having learned my lesson 2 years ago by bringing home two hamsters on impulse. Good luck with her, I look forward to seeing more photos.

Thanks for the replies.
I have found out that she needs a companion and I have phoned Honeybunnies who said they will help me. They will take her away for a couple of days and introduce her to a 'friend'. She will choose who she likes and she will be well cared for and watched by professional guineapig staff. This wont happen for about another month as I am letting her settle in first. . Unlike hammies, piggies do need the company. I was told they have a very wide vocal range and need another piggy to chat to. I read somewherethat two can take the space of one, so no extra space needs to be sorted. I am going to buy a C&C cage set up and expand it as and when I can afford it.

Hi DrK. You havent been out and bought one or two have you.

Pip has been settling in well and is eating 'new food' to her. It took her ages to know what to do with a tomato. lol. She loves greens, dandelions, grass, blackberry leaves, but I an going slow at introducing new greens and other veg as if too fast, she will get an upset stomach. I have had her out of the cage and she has been chirping her happy sound. She will have a companion in about a months time when she has settled in properly. I was told by a guinea pig foster home that they need the company. They will do all the work for me, introduce her to piggies and let her choose the right one for heself.

I am so glad she's settling in so nicely. I would love to run out and get two piggies Ian, but I am more focused right now on getting a gecko. I was going to get it at the beginning of the month and then the vertigo got me. So, I am hoping for the next week or two. I can't wait to see the companion Pip chooses eventually.

Hi DrK. I like gecko's. I had a leopard gecko. The first night I had him, the viv was set up and someone gave me a terracotta planter as a hide. When it came the morning time, he decided to back on the terracotta and he went black. They turn black through stress. I had to take him off and put him under the heat lamp until he warmed up. When they are black / cold, they cant move. They need the heat to warm the blood so they are able to move. He was lovely and loved his mealworms but got stressed out when a cricket used to crawl up his back and just stand on his head. That was funny to look at, but not for him. lol.

LOL. I got a load of books on them and I found out that live crickets will actually bite the gecko . I have everything this little one will need. I will definitely watch for things like that Ian.

I had bearded dragons after the gecko. I only saw the gecko at night as they are nocturnal, but beardies are day time reptiles. The beardies loved locusts, better than crickets. Cockraoches are a bit quick for them, both beardies and geckos. They hate running after them and just leave them. Because they are carnivores (they dont like veg) they will only eat what they can manage. When they poo, and you open the viv, beware, it is enough to knock you out. lol. I could not believe it.

I put large branch in my viv as the gecko liked to climb.

I have a bad confession to make. I have had to move Screech out of her cage for now as the guinea pig has had to have a large cage (until I get another large cage) for her to run around in. At first, I had Pip in the bin cage as it was the only cage I had spare (after putting the mesh in it). I have had to put Screech in the bin cage. She does not seem to mind too much. She was out last night exploring and playing on her wheel. I will see if she comes out more now that she is in a smaller cage. It is still larger than her other cage she started off in.
I was feeling guilty at evicting Screech but she does seem fine. She screeched at me when I disturbed her today, so I know she is fine. lol

I think the bin cage is fine for Screech. If you have the room for another giant cage like that and you want to have Screech back in one, that's great. But I do think Screech would be fine with the bin cage as a forever home.
