Guinea pigs Nacho and Nicky
I have two guinea pigs named Nacho and Nicky. When Nacho was turned into the animal shelter he had been found in an apartment where he was left behind when the people moved out. He had to learn to eat pellets and hay again as he had not eaten in so long. He was my pitiful little boy but now he's the first one to get the veggies.
Nacho's cage mate died so I adopted Nicky from a lady who runs a rabbit and small animal rescue. Nacho is not a people person kind of pig but Nicky loves when I pet him. Nacho is the orange/white pig in the pigtures.

Re: Guinea pigs Nacho and Nicky
Hello Brittbritt. I haven't been on HC for a bit, so I welcome you to Hamster Central a bit late. Your piggies are just beautiful. It is so disturbing that people would leave poor Nacho behind like that. It takes so little to drop a pet off at the pound or a rescue if a person doesn't want them. Our small furries have no way to feed themselves or get water. It is just too cruel. I am so glad you were able to take him in and care for him. It isn't surprising that he's not a people person. People have failed him badly. Maybe as he ages he will become more accepting of you. The picture of them both together is wonderful.

Re: Guinea pigs Nacho and Nicky
Aww, what sweeties! I would love to one day have a piggie like Nicky. I've found that specific color interesting for some reason. I have three boys myself, all rescues. My boy Pucca was rescued from a family that had three small children, and were "upgrading" to a dog, in their words. I was repulsed, and he was only five dollars with cage and supplies. I was worried he would go for snake food. He's had dental issues for approaching a year now, because of the lack of timothy hay and bad genetics, but I love him just the same. He is my first guinea. I also have butterfinger ( butters ) and whopper. Their previous owners didn't have enough time or space for them. They live as cage mates. It disgusts me how people can be so cruel to these little guys. Thank goodness you rescued your buddies, they look like nice and healthy and happy wheekers!

Cowgirlskipper, I'm glad you rescued your piggies as well. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for guinea pigs. I'd love to see pictures of yours as well.

Re: Guinea pigs Nacho and Nicky
Hi Brittbritt, just like DrKMck, I have been away from HC for a little while but my welcome is just as enthusiastic, although a little late. Nacho & Nicky are both delightful, and I am glad that Nacho found a new happier life with you. My only other small animal was a guinea pig when I was 7yrs old, called Fluffy, who we only had a for a short time due to a family move from Scotland to southern England, but with a few months stay in some temporary accommodation on a farm (not in a stable though!) before our house was ready in Kent. It was decided that it wouldn't be fair to Fluffy to undergo the upheaval twice, so our next door neighbours adopted him, I missed him so much.
Anyway, your photos of Nacho and Nicky are wonderful, they must be very close to each other. I'm glad that they have each other and you.
